Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding H-1B Visa Sponsorship in Regional Director
Verify your degree supports specialty occupation
USCIS scrutinizes Regional Director petitions because the title sounds managerial rather than specialized. Document that your degree field directly ties to the industry you're overseeing, whether that's healthcare administration, finance, or operations management.
Search LCA filings by occupation code
Use OFLC Wage Search to filter Labor Condition Application filings under SOC code 11-1021 for General and Operations Managers. Employers who filed LCAs for that code in your target industry are already approved to sponsor comparable roles.
Find H-1B sponsors on Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate surfaces employers with verified H-1B filing history for Regional Director and senior operations roles, so you're not cold-applying to companies that have never sponsored. Filter by industry and region to build a targeted list.
Expect prevailing wage at Level III or IV
Regional Director roles typically fall at DOL wage levels III or IV, reflecting supervisory scope and geographic responsibility. Confirm the prevailing wage for your metro area via OFLC Wage Search before evaluating any offer against H-1B requirements.
Clarify reporting structure before the petition
USCIS often issues Requests for Evidence on Regional Director petitions when the organizational chart is unclear. Ask the employer to document how many locations and direct reports you'll oversee, since a defined hierarchy strengthens the specialty occupation argument.
Time your offer around the April filing window
H-1B cap-subject petitions must be filed in April for an October 1 start date. If you're negotiating a Regional Director offer in January through March, build that timeline into your start date discussion so the employer can file without rushing.
H-1B Visa Regional Director: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Regional Director role qualify as a specialty occupation for H-1B purposes?
It can, but USCIS evaluates each petition on its specifics rather than the job title alone. A Regional Director role qualifies when the employer can demonstrate the position normally requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field, such as healthcare administration, finance, or supply chain management, and that you hold that degree. Generic management responsibilities without a field-specific degree requirement are more likely to draw a Request for Evidence.
Which industries most commonly sponsor H-1B visas for Regional Director positions?
Healthcare systems, financial services firms, logistics companies, and technology enterprises file the most H-1B Labor Condition Applications for senior operations and regional management roles. These industries tend to tie the Regional Director title to specialized credentials, making the specialty occupation argument easier to support. You can check DOL LCA disclosure data to see which employers have filed for comparable roles in your target sector.
How do I find Regional Director jobs at companies that already sponsor H-1B visas?
Migrate Mate shows Regional Director and senior operations roles filtered by employers with documented H-1B filing history, so you can focus on companies that have sponsored comparable positions before. Targeting employers with an established sponsorship record reduces the risk of losing an offer late in negotiations when a company decides it won't file.
Can my employer count my prior years in the same company toward the H-1B filing if I'm being promoted to Regional Director?
An internal promotion to Regional Director still requires a new H-1B petition if the role represents a material change in duties, location, or wage level. The employer must file an amended petition before the new role begins. Time already spent in H-1B status at the company does count toward your six-year cap, so the promotion itself doesn't reset your clock.
What documentation strengthens an H-1B petition for a Regional Director role?
The employer's support letter should detail the specific degree field required, the number of locations or employees you'll oversee, and how those responsibilities demand specialized knowledge rather than general management skills. An O*NET occupational profile for the closest matching SOC code can support the specialty occupation argument. Your own credentials, including transcripts showing a relevant field of study, should align precisely with the duties described.
