Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding H-1B Visa Sponsorship in Registered Radiologic Technologist
Verify your ARRT certification before applying
Most H-1B-sponsoring radiology employers require active ARRT certification as a condition of the offer, not just licensure. Confirm your certification is current and transferable to the state where the role is located before submitting applications.
Check employer LCA filing history on Migrate Mate
Search Migrate Mate to see which hospitals and imaging networks have filed Labor Condition Applications for Radiologic Technologist roles. Employers with recent LCA history are far more likely to have an active H-1B process in place.
Target health systems enrolled in E-Verify
Federal contractors and health systems receiving Medicare or Medicaid funding are required to use E-Verify, which correlates strongly with established H-1B infrastructure. Ask HR whether the facility is E-Verify enrolled before investing time in the interview process.
Use OFLC Wage Search to benchmark your offer
DOL requires your offered wage to meet or exceed the prevailing wage for your SOC code and work location. Run the OFLC Wage Search for Radiologic Technologists in your target metro before negotiating, so you know the floor your employer must meet on the LCA.
Clarify modality scope in your job description
H-1B petitions for radiology roles are tied to the specific duties listed in the LCA and I-129. If your role covers CT, MRI, or fluoroscopy in addition to general radiography, confirm those modalities appear in the job description to avoid an RFE on specialty occupation grounds.
Request cap-exempt filing if your employer qualifies
Nonprofit hospitals, university health systems, and government-affiliated medical facilities can file H-1B petitions outside the annual lottery cap. Ask your prospective employer whether it qualifies as a cap-exempt entity under USCIS rules before the October 1 registration window.

Find Registered Radiologic Technologist JobsRegistered Radiologic Technologist H-1B Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Registered Radiologic Technologist qualify as an H-1B specialty occupation?
Yes. USCIS treats Registered Radiologic Technologist as a specialty occupation because entry-level positions normally require at least a bachelor's degree in radiologic technology, medical imaging, or a directly related field. Your ARRT certification and degree documentation together support the specialty occupation argument in the I-129 petition.
Which types of employers most commonly sponsor H-1B visas for this role?
Large hospital systems, academic medical centers, and multisite imaging networks file the most H-1B petitions for Radiologic Technologists. These employers typically have dedicated HR and immigration teams familiar with the LCA and I-129 process. You can search verified LCA filing history by employer and occupation on Migrate Mate to find facilities with an active sponsorship track record.
How does the H-1B lottery affect my job search timeline as a Radiologic Technologist?
Most private-sector employers are subject to the 85,000-slot annual cap and must register during USCIS's March lottery window. If selected, employment can start October 1. Nonprofit hospitals and university health systems can file cap-exempt petitions at any time, so targeting those employers eliminates lottery timing risk entirely from your job search.
Can my employer file H-1B for a part-time Radiologic Technologist position?
USCIS allows H-1B petitions for part-time roles, but the offered wage must still meet the DOL prevailing wage for the part-time hours worked, prorated appropriately. Some employers resist part-time H-1B filings due to the administrative overhead relative to hours, so confirm the employer's willingness before the offer stage.
Does state licensure affect my H-1B petition for a Radiologic Technologist role?
Yes. Several states require active state licensure before a Radiologic Technologist can perform clinical duties, and USCIS may request evidence of that licensure as part of the specialty occupation analysis. If you're still completing reciprocity or endorsement paperwork, discuss timing with your employer's immigration contact so the I-129 filing aligns with your licensure status.
