Pull your O*NET job zone rating
Sales Coordinator maps to O*NET SOC code 41-3099. Confirm your job description aligns with 'substantial preparation needed' tasks before applying. A weak degree-to-role match is the most common H-1B RFE trigger for this occupation.
Target employers with certified LCA history
Search Migrate Mate to filter Sales Coordinator roles by employers who have filed and received certified LCAs for this exact occupation code. Past filings signal that the employer's HR and legal teams already know the H-1B process for this role.
Verify your prevailing wage tier at offer
Use the OFLC Wage Search before you negotiate an offer. Sales Coordinator wages are filed at Level I through Level IV. An offer below the certified wage level will fail DOL review, so confirm the tier matches your experience before signing.
Document your degree-to-role equivalency early
If your business or marketing degree is from outside the U.S., get a credential evaluation completed before the offer stage. USCIS requires a direct-field match for specialty occupation, and a three-year bachelor's degree typically needs an equivalency letter to qualify.
Clarify cap-subject status with your new employer
Most Sales Coordinator roles are at cap-subject employers, meaning your petition enters the annual H-1B lottery. If you're currently on OPT, your cap-gap protection extends your work authorization until October 1 if your petition is timely filed.
Ask about E-Verify enrollment before accepting
Your employer must be E-Verify enrolled to sponsor H-1B workers. Sales Coordinator positions at smaller distributors or regional firms sometimes lack enrollment. Confirm E-Verify status during the offer stage, not after you've signed.
H-1B Visa Sales Coordinator: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Sales Coordinator role qualify as a specialty occupation for H-1B purposes?
It depends on how the employer defines the role. USCIS requires that a Sales Coordinator position normally require at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field like business, marketing, or communications. If the job description accepts any degree or lists the degree as preferred rather than required, USCIS may issue an RFE challenging specialty occupation status. Employers with prior approved LCAs for this title are a safer target.
How do I find employers who have sponsored H-1B visas for Sales Coordinator roles?
Migrate Mate filters Sales Coordinator jobs by verified DOL Labor Condition Application filing history, so you can see which employers have actually filed for this occupation code rather than guessing based on company size or industry. Wholesale distributors, SaaS companies, and multinational manufacturers are among the most active filers for this title.
Can I transfer my H-1B to a new Sales Coordinator job without losing status?
Yes, H-1B portability under AC21 lets you start working for a new employer as soon as the transfer petition is filed, provided your original H-1B has been approved for at least 180 days. Your new employer files a new I-129 and LCA specific to the Sales Coordinator role and location. You don't need to wait for USCIS approval before your start date.
What wage level is typically filed for Sales Coordinator H-1B petitions?
Most entry-level Sales Coordinator petitions are filed at DOL wage Level I or Level II, which correspond to positions requiring routine tasks under supervision. If your role involves managing accounts independently or supervising junior staff, your employer may file at Level III. The certified wage on the LCA must match or exceed the prevailing wage for the specific location and SOC code, which you can verify using the OFLC Wage Search.
Does a Sales Coordinator role on H-1B restrict which industry I can work in?
Your H-1B petition is tied to a specific employer, location, and job duties, not to an industry. Switching from a tech company to a manufacturing distributor is permitted if you file a new petition or transfer, and your role still qualifies as a specialty occupation. USCIS evaluates the job description and degree requirement each time, so the employer's LCA and I-129 must accurately reflect the new position.
