H-1B Visa Search Analyst Jobs
Search Analyst roles qualify for H-1B sponsorship as specialty occupations requiring a bachelor's degree in information science, statistics, or a related field. Employers filing LCAs must meet DOL prevailing wage requirements for your work location, and many large-scale search and analytics teams have active H-1B filing histories.

Align your degree to the role
USCIS requires a direct relationship between your degree field and the Search Analyst position. A degree in information science, statistics, or computer science strengthens your petition. A general business degree may trigger an RFE without supplemental coursework documentation.
Check prevailing wage before negotiating
Use the OFLC Wage Search to look up the prevailing wage for your exact SOC code and work location before you receive an offer. Your offered salary must meet or exceed Level I through IV wage floors, which vary significantly by metro area.
Target employers with verified LCA filing history
Use Migrate Mate to filter Search Analyst openings by employers who have filed LCAs for this occupation code. That filing history confirms the employer understands the DOL certification process and has successfully sponsored similar roles.
Confirm remote work arrangements in writing
If your Search Analyst role involves remote work across multiple states, your employer must file a separate LCA for each worksite location. Get written confirmation of your primary work location before the I-129 is filed to avoid compliance gaps.
Review the O*NET profile before your interview
The O*NET occupation profile for Search Analysts outlines the core tasks, required knowledge areas, and typical education levels USCIS expects to see reflected in your job duties. Misalignment between your offer letter and O*NET criteria is a common RFE trigger.
Time your job search around the H-1B cap cycle
H-1B cap registration opens in March for an October 1 start date. If you're on OPT, confirm your OPT end date and whether a cap-gap extension applies so you can target employers willing to file during the registration window that works for your timeline.

Find Search Analyst JobsSearch Analyst H-1B Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Search Analyst role qualify as a specialty occupation for H-1B purposes?
Yes, Search Analyst positions typically qualify because they require at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field such as information science, statistics, computer science, or a related discipline. USCIS evaluates the job duties and the degree requirement, so your offer letter should clearly reflect that the role demands specialized theoretical knowledge, not just general analytical skills.
Which employers sponsor H-1B visas for Search Analyst positions?
Large technology companies, e-commerce platforms, digital advertising firms, and search engine operators have consistently filed LCAs for Search Analyst roles. Use Migrate Mate to browse verified openings filtered by employers with active H-1B filing history for this occupation, which removes the guesswork of cold-applying to companies with no sponsorship track record.
What SOC code applies to Search Analyst roles, and why does it matter?
Most Search Analyst positions are filed under SOC 15-2041 (Data Scientists) or 15-1299 (Computer Occupations, All Other), depending on job duties. The SOC code determines the DOL prevailing wage your employer must pay and the supporting documentation USCIS expects. Confirm the code with your employer before the LCA is filed, since a misclassified SOC code can result in a wage underpayment finding or an RFE.
Can I switch from OPT to H-1B status while working as a Search Analyst?
Yes. Your employer must register you in the H-1B lottery in March, and if selected, file the I-129 petition for an October 1 start date. If your OPT expires before October 1, the cap-gap rule automatically extends your work authorization through September 30, provided the I-129 was filed on time. Confirm your OPT end date and the petition receipt date with your employer immediately after filing.
What documents should I prepare before asking an employer to sponsor my H-1B?
Have your official academic transcripts, degree certificates, and a credential evaluation ready if your degree is from outside the U.S. USCIS requires the evaluation to come from a NACES-member organization. Also prepare a detailed description of your past Search Analyst work experience aligned to the O*NET task list for the occupation, since employers often need this to build the specialty occupation argument in the I-129.
