H-1B Visa Senior Fullstack Software Engineer Jobs
Senior Fullstack Software Engineer roles sit squarely within H-1B visa specialty occupation requirements, given the degree-level technical skills the position demands. Employers filing LCAs for fullstack roles must meet DOL prevailing wage standards, and the H-1B cap means timing your job search around the April lottery window matters.

Verify your stack matches specialty occupation
H-1B approval hinges on your role requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a specific technical field. Document how your fullstack experience in frameworks like React, Node.js, or Go ties directly to a defined computer science or engineering specialty, not just general IT work.
Check employer LCA filings before applying
Use the OFLC Wage Search to confirm a company has filed Labor Condition Applications for fullstack or software engineering roles. Employers with LCA history for your exact SOC code are far more likely to have an active H-1B sponsorship process already in place.
Filter for H-1B sponsors on Migrate Mate
Search Senior Fullstack Software Engineer roles on Migrate Mate, which surfaces employers verified through DOL LCA disclosure data. You'll skip companies that have never sponsored and focus your applications where the sponsorship infrastructure already exists.
Register before March to hit the lottery
USCIS opens H-1B cap registration each March for the following October 1 start date. If you're targeting a new employer rather than a cap-exempt institution, your offer letter and I-129 petition must be ready before the registration window closes.
Clarify architect versus engineer in your title
Some employers list senior fullstack roles under software architect or principal engineer titles. Confirm which SOC code your employer intends to use on the LCA, since the prevailing wage tier differs and a mismatched title can trigger a USCIS Request for Evidence.
Use your 60-day grace period strategically
If you're switching employers, USCIS allows a 60-day grace period after your current H-1B ends. Your new employer should file an H-1B transfer petition with portability coverage so you can start work once the receipt notice arrives, without waiting for full approval.
H-1B Visa Senior Fullstack Software Engineer: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Senior Fullstack Software Engineer role qualify as an H-1B specialty occupation?
Yes. USCIS classifies software development roles requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, software engineering, or a closely related field as specialty occupations. For a senior fullstack role, your employer's LCA and petition should document that the position requires theoretical and practical application of highly specialized knowledge, which fullstack engineering consistently satisfies under O*NET and USCIS policy.
How do I find employers actively sponsoring H-1B visas for fullstack engineers?
Search on Migrate Mate, which uses DOL LCA disclosure data to surface employers with verified H-1B filing history for software engineering roles. This filters out companies that have never sponsored and surfaces ones where the process is already established, saving you from offers that stall at the HR approval stage.
What happens to my H-1B if I want to change employers after being hired?
Your new employer files an H-1B transfer petition with USCIS. Under AC21 portability rules, you can start work as soon as you receive the receipt notice, as long as your previous H-1B was approved and your new role is in the same or a similar occupational classification. The 60-day grace period covers the gap between jobs.
Can a startup sponsor my H-1B for a Senior Fullstack Software Engineer role?
Startups can sponsor H-1B visas, but USCIS scrutinizes whether the employer has the financial capacity to pay the prevailing wage and the organizational structure to establish a bona fide employer-employee relationship. If you're considering a startup offer, confirm they've filed LCAs before and have legal counsel managing the petition, since petitions from new employers face higher scrutiny.
How does the prevailing wage requirement affect fullstack engineering roles?
DOL requires your employer to pay at least the prevailing wage for your role's SOC code and work location, verified through the OFLC Wage Search. Senior fullstack roles typically fall into wage Level III or IV, meaning the certified wage is benchmarked against experienced engineers in your metro area. Underpaying relative to the LCA is a compliance violation that can jeopardize both your status and your employer's future filings.
