H-1B Visa Site Manager Jobs
Site Manager roles qualify for H-1B visa sponsorship when the position requires a bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field. Employers must file a Labor Condition Application certifying prevailing wage compliance before petitioning USCIS. Competition for sponsored roles is real, but construction and infrastructure employers file H-1B visa petitions consistently.

Verify your degree supports specialty occupation
USCIS requires a direct relationship between your degree field and Site Manager duties. A civil engineering or construction management degree strengthens your case. A general business degree alone may trigger a Request for Evidence.
Check employer LCA filings before applying
Search DOL's OFLC Wage Search to confirm a construction employer has filed Labor Condition Applications for Site Manager roles. Past LCA activity signals an established H-1B sponsorship process, not a company figuring it out for the first time.
Target firms with federal or public contracts
Federal contractors and publicly funded infrastructure firms sponsor H-1B workers more consistently because E-Verify enrollment is often mandatory and HR teams are already familiar with work authorization requirements for Site Manager positions.
Use Migrate Mate to filter verified sponsors
Search Site Manager roles on Migrate Mate to see employers with documented H-1B filing history. Filtering by sponsorship track record cuts time spent on applications to companies that have never petitioned USCIS for this role type.
Negotiate cap-gap protection into your start date
If you're on OPT when selected in the H-1B lottery, your work authorization extends automatically through September 30 under cap-gap rules. Confirm your offer letter reflects an October 1 start date so there's no gap in authorized employment.
Clarify project-site mobility with your employer early
H-1B workers must have an LCA for each work location. Site Managers who rotate across multiple job sites need their employer to file a blanket LCA or separate certified LCAs per location before you travel, not after.
H-1B Visa Site Manager: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Site Manager role qualify as a specialty occupation for H-1B purposes?
It depends on how the employer defines the position. USCIS requires the role to normally require at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field like civil engineering or construction management. A Site Manager role framed around general supervision without a degree requirement may not qualify. Employers who specify a technical degree in the job description and responsibilities significantly strengthen the petition.
How does working across multiple construction sites affect my H-1B status?
Each physical work location requires a certified Labor Condition Application on file with DOL before you perform work there. If your Site Manager role moves you between project sites, your employer needs to post the LCA at each worksite and may need to file amendments with USCIS when assignments change substantially. Failing to cover new locations is a compliance violation, not just a paperwork issue.
Can I switch Site Manager employers without losing my H-1B status?
Yes, under H-1B portability rules you can start working for a new employer as soon as they file an H-1B transfer petition with USCIS, provided your current status is lawful and the new role is in a specialty occupation. You don't need to wait for approval. Confirm the new employer files immediately after your offer is accepted to keep your authorization uninterrupted.
Which types of employers sponsor H-1B visas for Site Manager roles?
General contractors, engineering and construction management firms, utilities, and large real estate developers are the most consistent H-1B sponsors for Site Manager positions. Federal contractors are particularly reliable because E-Verify enrollment requirements already make them familiar with employment authorization processes. You can find employers with verified H-1B filing history for this role on Migrate Mate.
What O*NET classification applies to Site Manager roles and why does it matter?
O*NET classifies Construction Managers under a job zone that typically requires a bachelor's degree, which supports the specialty occupation argument in an H-1B petition. Employers and immigration attorneys reference the O*NET profile to document that the role normally requires theoretical and practical application of highly specialized knowledge, a key USCIS threshold for approval.
