INTRODUCTION
SeatGeek believes live events are powerful experiences that unite humans. With our technological savvy and fan-first attitude we’re simplifying and modernizing the ticketing industry. SeatGeek is looking for an Organic Social Media Strategist to own and reimagine our organic social presence from the ground up — across platforms, across moments, and across the culture that makes live entertainment worth showing up for. From hosting an Instagram live at an event to responding to fans on Reddit to developing a TikTok content series for the start of the NFL season, this person will own end-to-end strategy and execution across platforms. The Organic Social Media Strategist will report to the Director of Organic Growth and work cross-functionally with content, creative, PR, fan support, and beyond. The ideal candidate brings deep fluency in social media marketing, a genuine love for sports and live entertainment, and a strong instinct for tying great content to real business impact.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Own and manage SeatGeek's organic social channels end-to-end — including strategy, content creation, scheduling, and publishing across Instagram, TikTok, X, and any emerging platforms worth owning
Develop and execute a cohesive organic social strategy aligned with brand and business goals — defining channel-specific approaches, content pillars, posting cadence, and audience growth tactics that compound over time
Ideate and produce culturally relevant, platform-native content that taps into live events, sports, concerts, and entertainment moments — turning what's happening in culture into content that drives engagement, shares, and brand love
Stay ahead of trends, conversations, and activity in real time — identifying opportunities for timely reactive content, cultural hijacks, and community engagement that keep SeatGeek part of the conversation
Shoot, edit, and produce short-form video content using self-shot footage, UGC, or provided assets — with a strong eye for storytelling, pacing, hooks, and platform-native formats that stop the scroll
Track, analyze, and report on performance metrics — including reach, engagement, follower growth, and share of voice — and use those insights to continuously optimize content strategy and make a clear case for the channel's impact on the business
Own community engagement — responding to comments, DMs, and mentions with a voice that feels human, on-brand, and genuinely fun; turning fans into advocates and everyday interactions into brand moments
Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, partnerships, PR, and creative, and to support campaigns, product launches, and tentpole moments — while keeping the organic social voice consistent and authentic
Build and manage the content calendar — balancing planned campaigns, evergreen content, and real-time opportunities across multiple platforms without dropping the ball on any of them
Serve as the internal expert and evangelist for organic social — bringing platform insights, algorithm changes, and emerging format recommendations to the broader team and helping educate stakeholders on what moves the needle and why
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
4+ years of experience in organic social media and content strategy, ideally at an e-commerce brand; experience in sports, live events, or ticketing is a strong plus
A scrappy, can-do work ethic. Comfortable operating independently, moving fast, and wearing multiple hats — you don't wait for perfect conditions to ship great content
Strong organization skills, with experience owning and managing a content calendar across multiple platforms and campaigns simultaneously, without letting real-time moments fall through the cracks
Fluent in internet culture — you're always clued into the latest trend, TikTok audio, or viral meme before it peaks, and you know how to translate that into content that feels native, not forced
A genuine passion for live entertainment and sports. You understand the cultural weight of the NBA playoffs as much as you know the setlist for the Ariana Grande tour — and you instinctively know how to show up for those moments in real time
A data-first mindset. You're a strong evangelist for the power of organic social, fluent in platform analytics, and able to clearly report on what's working, what's not, and how the channel connects to business outcomes and revenue
Strong interpersonal and cross-functional communication skills. A natural collaborator who can work fluidly across teams — and who can clearly articulate social strategy to stakeholders at all levels
Experience partnering with creative teams and executing within brand guidelines — while knowing how to push those guardrails in ways that feel fresh and platform-native
Deep familiarity with social search and AI search optimization — you understand how content gets discovered through in-platform search on TikTok and Instagram, and you're proactive about building content strategies that perform in emerging AI discovery surfaces
Hands-on content creation experience, including shooting and editing short-form video (CapCut, Adobe Premiere, or similar); comfortable being a producer, director, and sometimes the talent
Sharp editorial instincts and a distinctive writing voice — you can adapt tone across platforms and write captions that stop the scroll, whether that's a single punchy line or a hook that earns the "more."
A strong creative eye. You can concept and produce content yourself, write a brief that actually inspires a creative team, and give feedback that's specific, actionable, and makes the work better — not just different
* A natural community builder with strong instincts for engaging audiences in comments, knowing when to reply, amplify, or escalate, and turning everyday interactions into brand moments
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Discretionary annual bonus
Flexible work environment, allowing you to work as many days a week in the office as you’d like or 100% remotely
A WFH stipend to support your home office setup
Unlimited PTO
Up to 16 weeks of fully-paid family leave

Student loan matching program
Health, vision, dental, and life insurance

Verify your degree aligns with the role
USCIS requires a direct connection between your degree field and the Social Media Strategist position. A marketing, communications, or digital media degree strengthens the specialty occupation argument. A general business degree may require additional documentation showing relevance.
Search LCA filings for real sponsorship history
Pull OFLC disclosure data to see which employers have filed LCAs for Social Media Strategist or related marketing roles. Prioritize employers with multiple filings over several years, that pattern signals an established sponsorship process, not a one-off hire.
Target employers already enrolled in E-Verify
E-Verify enrollment is a strong proxy for H-1B readiness. Companies actively sponsoring visa holders are almost always enrolled. Filter your employer list through Migrate Mate to surface companies with verified LCA filing history in marketing and social media roles.
Time your offer to the H-1B filing window
USCIS accepts H-1B petitions starting April 1 each year for an October 1 start date. Negotiate your offer letter and start date around this window. A signed offer in hand before March lets your employer meet the filing deadline without rushing the LCA certification process.
Ask employers about their prevailing wage level upfront
The DOL assigns your role a wage level from 1 to 4 using the OFLC Wage Search. Level 1 roles face heavier USCIS scrutiny for specialty occupation claims. Pushing for a Level 2 or 3 title, Senior Social Media Strategist, for example, reduces that risk and supports the petition.
Use O*NET to document specialty occupation status
The O*NET profile for Social Media Specialists lists the education and skill requirements USCIS evaluators reference. Pull that profile before interviews and confirm your job description mirrors the listed competencies. Gaps between the posted role and O*NET criteria can trigger a Request for Evidence.
H-1B Visa Social Media Strategist: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Social Media Strategist role qualify as a specialty occupation for H-1B purposes?
It can, but the employer must show the position requires at minimum a bachelor's degree in a specific field such as marketing, communications, or digital media. Generic job descriptions that accept any degree weaken the specialty occupation argument. USCIS has issued Requests for Evidence on marketing roles, so a well-drafted job description tied to specific degree requirements is critical.
How do I find employers who sponsor H-1B visas for Social Media Strategist positions?
Migrate Mate filters employers by LCA filing history, so you can see which companies have sponsored Social Media Strategist or related marketing roles. Tech platforms, consumer brands, digital agencies, and media companies file LCAs for this occupation most consistently. Targeting employers with repeat filings in marketing roles reduces the risk of applying to companies with no sponsorship process in place.
Can a startup or small agency sponsor my H-1B as a Social Media Strategist?
Yes, employer size isn't a USCIS eligibility requirement for H-1B sponsorship. The employer must pay the prevailing wage, file the LCA with DOL, and demonstrate the position is a specialty occupation. Smaller employers without an in-house HR team often use immigration attorneys for this process, so ask early whether the company has sponsored before.
What happens to my H-1B status if my Social Media Strategist role shifts to a different title or function?
A material change in job duties, title, or work location can require an amended H-1B petition with USCIS. If your role evolves significantly from what was filed, your employer should file an amendment before the change takes effect. A new location in a different metropolitan area almost always triggers a new LCA because prevailing wages are geography-specific.
Does remote work affect H-1B sponsorship for Social Media Strategist jobs?
Remote work adds complexity because the LCA must list every location where you'll perform work. If you're working remotely from a state different from your employer's headquarters, a new LCA covering that worksite is typically required. DOL enforces this through the LCA posting requirement, which must be satisfied at each physical work location, including your home address.
