Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding H-1B Visa Sponsorship in Software Asset Management
Map your degree to SAM job codes
Pull the O*NET profile for Software Quality Assurance Analysts and Testers or Computer Systems Analysts to confirm which SOC codes cover SAM roles. Your degree field must align with the posted requirements before an employer can support your H-1B specialty occupation claim.
Target employers with E-Verify enrollment
STEM OPT extensions require E-Verify-enrolled employers, so filtering for enrollment early keeps your options open. SAM roles at IT service companies, software vendors, and large enterprises are most likely to carry active enrollment alongside existing H-1B sponsorship infrastructure.
Search verified H-1B sponsors on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter Software Asset Management roles by employers with confirmed H-1B LCA filing history. That filing history tells you the employer has already navigated the DOL certification process for comparable positions, reducing your risk of a first-time sponsorship refusal.
Request the prevailing wage tier before negotiating
Ask your recruiter which DOL wage level the employer intends to certify. SAM roles certified at Level I carry tighter salary bands than Level III or IV positions. Cross-check the employer's offered level against the OFLC Wage Search for your metro area before accepting an offer.
Clarify job duties to avoid specialty occupation RFEs
USCIS scrutinizes SAM roles because the title spans both technical and administrative functions. Get the offer letter to describe software licensing analysis, compliance auditing, or vendor contract management explicitly. Vague duty language invites a Request for Evidence questioning whether the role requires a degree.
Submit your H-1B registration documents in February
USCIS opens H-1B registration in early March each year, but employers need your passport, degree transcripts, and job offer confirmed before they can register. Deliver those documents by late February so your employer's attorney has time to review and enter you in the lottery window.
H-1B Visa Software Asset Management: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Software Asset Management role qualify as an H-1B specialty occupation?
Yes, if the position requires at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field such as computer science, information systems, or business information technology. Roles focused on software licensing compliance, SAM tool administration, or vendor contract analysis typically satisfy USCIS specialty occupation criteria. Roles framed primarily as procurement or general IT support face higher scrutiny and may require additional documentation to establish the degree requirement.
Which employers commonly sponsor H-1B visas for Software Asset Management jobs?
IT service firms, large enterprise technology departments, and software publishers file the most H-1B LCAs for SAM-related roles. Consulting firms that sell SAM program implementation services to clients are also frequent sponsors. Use Migrate Mate to browse Software Asset Management positions filtered by employers with verified LCA filing history, so you're applying to companies that have already established the sponsorship process.
How does the DOL prevailing wage requirement affect Software Asset Management offers?
Your employer must certify through a Labor Condition Application that your offered salary meets the DOL prevailing wage for the relevant SOC code and geographic location. SAM roles are typically mapped to Computer Systems Analyst or Software Quality Assurance classifications. You can verify the applicable wage levels for your metro area using the OFLC Wage Search before finalizing your offer negotiation.
Can I work in Software Asset Management on OPT while waiting for H-1B approval?
Yes. If your OPT is active and your employer filed your H-1B petition before your OPT end date, the cap-gap rule extends your work authorization through September 30 of the lottery year. If your SAM role is at a STEM-designated employer enrolled in E-Verify, you may also qualify for a 24-month STEM OPT extension, providing additional runway before your H-1B start date.
What happens if USCIS sends an RFE on my Software Asset Management H-1B petition?
An RFE for a SAM role typically challenges whether the position qualifies as a specialty occupation or whether your degree directly relates to the duties. Your employer's attorney responds with additional evidence: detailed job duty descriptions, industry standards showing degree requirements for comparable roles, and documentation of your specific technical responsibilities. Response time is typically 60 to 84 days from the RFE notice date, and USCIS confirms the exact deadline in the notice itself.
