Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding H-1B Visa Sponsorship in Vice President Enterprise Sales
Verify your role meets specialty occupation
Pull the O*NET profile for Sales Managers and confirm your VP-level duties map to a specific degree field. Enterprise sales at this level typically qualifies, but a generic 'any bachelor's degree' job description can trigger an RFE from USCIS.
Target companies with cap-exempt status
Universities, nonprofit research institutions, and government-affiliated entities are H-1B cap-exempt. A VP Enterprise Sales role at an edtech company affiliated with a university may let you skip the lottery entirely and start sooner.
Use Migrate Mate to filter LCA-verified employers
Search Migrate Mate to identify employers who have filed Labor Condition Applications for senior sales roles. LCA history signals an established sponsorship process, not just a willingness to sponsor stated in a job posting.
Negotiate the prevailing wage before signing
Your employer must file an LCA certifying your salary meets or exceeds the DOL prevailing wage for VP-level sales in your metro area. Run the OFLC Wage Search before your offer negotiation so you know the floor and can push above it.
Time your job search around the H-1B lottery window
USCIS opens H-1B registration in March for an October 1 start date. Start targeting VP Enterprise Sales roles in November or December so an offer letter is in hand before the registration window opens and your employer can file on time.
Request premium processing during offer negotiations
Premium processing guarantees a USCIS decision within 15 business days. At VP level, employers expect a fast start date, so ask your future employer to include premium processing in the sponsorship offer before you accept.
H-1B Visa Vice President Enterprise Sales: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Vice President Enterprise Sales role qualify for H-1B sponsorship?
Yes, VP Enterprise Sales typically qualifies as a specialty occupation because it normally requires a bachelor's degree or higher in business, marketing, management, or a related field. The position must require that specific theoretical knowledge, not just any degree. If the job description is written too broadly, USCIS may issue an RFE, so employer documentation of degree requirements matters.
How do I find employers who actively sponsor H-1B visas for senior sales roles?
Search Migrate Mate to browse VP Enterprise Sales openings filtered by employers with verified H-1B Labor Condition Application filing history. LCA records are public DOL data, so you can see which companies have sponsored roles at this level before, which is more reliable than asking a recruiter whether a company 'will consider' sponsorship.
Can I transfer my H-1B to a new employer if I'm already in a VP Enterprise Sales role?
Yes. H-1B portability under AC21 lets you start working for a new employer as soon as the transfer petition is filed, without waiting for approval, as long as your current H-1B has been approved for at least 180 days. Your new employer files a new I-129 petition, and you don't re-enter the lottery.
What happens to my H-1B if I'm laid off from a VP Enterprise Sales position?
You have a 60-day grace period after your employment ends to find a new sponsoring employer, file for a change of status, or depart the U.S. At VP level, the job search often takes longer than 60 days, so starting outreach immediately and prioritizing employers with established sponsorship processes is practical, not optional.
Does my VP Enterprise Sales H-1B tie me to one employer?
Your H-1B is employer-specific, meaning you can only work for the petitioning company. Moving to a different company requires a new H-1B transfer petition. Concurrent H-1B status is possible if you take on a part-time advisory or board role with a second employer, but both companies must each file their own petitions with USCIS.
