Verify your role meets specialty occupation
USCIS requires H-1B roles to demand at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field. For Warehouse Clerk positions, document how your employer requires a degree in logistics, supply chain management, or operations, not just a preference.
Research prevailing wages before negotiating offers
Use the OFLC Wage Search to look up Level I through Level IV wages for Warehouse Clerk roles in your exact work location. Your offered salary must meet the certified LCA wage, so know the floor before the conversation starts.
Target employers with active E-Verify enrollment
H-1B sponsors must be authorized to employ foreign nationals. Search for warehousing and logistics employers enrolled in E-Verify, which signals compliance infrastructure already in place and reduces friction when your petition is filed.
Find H-1B sponsors using Migrate Mate
Filter Warehouse Clerk listings on Migrate Mate by employers with verified H-1B LCA filing history in logistics and supply chain. This surfaces companies that have sponsored similar roles before, not just employers willing to consider it in theory.
Clarify worksite location before LCA is filed
If your Warehouse Clerk role involves multiple facilities or rotating sites, your employer must file a separate LCA for each location. Confirm your primary worksite address before the LCA is submitted to avoid amending paperwork after certification.
Prepare a degree-to-role equivalency letter
If your degree is in a related but non-exact field, ask your employer to include a detailed job duties letter with the I-129 petition. USCIS adjudicators scrutinize Warehouse Clerk petitions more closely when the degree-to-occupation connection is indirect.
H-1B Visa Warehouse Clerk: Frequently Asked Questions
Can a Warehouse Clerk role qualify for H-1B sponsorship?
Yes, but only if the employer can demonstrate the position requires a specific bachelor's degree as a minimum entry requirement, not just a preference. Warehouse Clerk roles tied to specialized inventory systems, logistics platforms, or supply chain coordination are more defensible than general receiving or stocking positions. USCIS will scrutinize whether the duties genuinely require theoretical and practical application of a specific field of study.
How do I find Warehouse Clerk employers who have sponsored H-1B visas before?
Migrate Mate shows verified H-1B LCA filing history by employer and occupation, so you can identify warehousing and logistics companies that have successfully sponsored similar roles. Targeting employers with a prior H-1B track record in your occupation code significantly reduces the risk of an employer backing out mid-process due to unfamiliarity with the filing requirements.
What prevailing wage level applies to Warehouse Clerk H-1B positions?
Most entry-level Warehouse Clerk H-1B petitions are certified at Level I or Level II under the DOL wage system, depending on your experience and job complexity. Your employer determines the correct level when filing the LCA, and your offered wage must meet or exceed that certified amount. Use the OFLC Wage Search to verify the prevailing wage for your specific job location before accepting an offer.
Will my employer need to file a new LCA if I transfer to a different warehouse location?
Yes. The LCA is tied to a specific worksite address, and H-1B employees working at a new location require either a new or amended LCA before the move. Short-term placements under 60 consecutive days at a location within commuting distance may qualify for a short-term placement exception, but your employer's HR or immigration counsel should confirm eligibility before you start working at the new site.
Does a Warehouse Clerk role qualify for O*NET specialty occupation classification?
O*NET classifies Warehouse Clerks under a job zone that does not typically require a four-year degree, which creates a challenge for H-1B qualification. Your employer will need to provide a detailed position description showing why their specific role requires a bachelor's degree in a relevant field, going beyond the general O*NET occupational profile. Roles incorporating ERP system management, cross-border logistics compliance, or specialized inventory analytics are more likely to survive USCIS scrutiny.
