Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Entry Level Jobs
Confirm your degree field matches the role
H-1B1 Chile requires a specialty occupation, meaning your bachelor's degree must relate directly to the entry level position. A business administration degree won't support a software engineering role, even if you've done that work before.
Research LCA filings before applying
Entry level hiring managers often don't know whether their company has sponsored H-1B1 Chile before. Search OFLC Wage Search by job title and employer to verify prior filings before you spend time in their interview process.
Use Migrate Mate to find sponsoring employers
Migrate Mate shows which employers have active H-1B1 Chile Labor Condition Applications for entry level roles, so you're applying to companies already set up to sponsor you rather than educating recruiters from scratch.
Know the prevailing wage tier for your role
Entry level positions fall under DOL wage Level I or II. Your employer's LCA must certify they'll pay at least that threshold. Check the OFLC Wage Search for your occupation's prevailing wage in your target city before negotiating.
Verify your job title's O*NET specialty occupation status
Not every entry level title automatically qualifies as a specialty occupation. Look up your role in O*NET to confirm it requires a bachelor's degree in a specific field, then cite that job zone classification if a recruiter questions eligibility.
Request consulate processing over change of status
H-1B1 Chile is only available at the consulate in Chile, not through a USCIS change of status petition. If you're currently in the U.S. on another visa, plan your travel timeline so your entry level start date aligns with your consular appointment.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can an entry level job qualify for H-1B1 Chile visa sponsorship?
Yes, as long as the role meets the specialty occupation definition. Entry level positions in fields like software development, financial analysis, engineering, and accounting commonly qualify because they require at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field. Job titles that accept any degree or no degree won't qualify, so confirm the requirement is in the job posting before applying.
How does H-1B1 Chile compare to H-1B for entry level roles?
H-1B1 Chile skips the annual lottery that blocks most H-1B visa applicants before they even reach an employer. The 1,400-visa annual cap for Chilean nationals has never been exhausted, so your application isn't a matter of random selection. The trade-off is that H-1B1 Chile doesn't allow dual intent, meaning you can't use it as a direct stepping stone to a green card without additional steps.
How do I find entry level employers who already sponsor H-1B1 Chile visas?
Migrate Mate filters job listings by verified H-1B1 Chile Labor Condition Application history, so you can target employers who have already filed for Chilean nationals rather than hoping a recruiter is familiar with the visa. This is especially useful for entry level searches where sponsorship awareness among hiring managers is inconsistent.
Does my employer need prior H-1B1 Chile experience to sponsor me?
No, but they do need to file a Labor Condition Application with DOL and complete consular paperwork they may not have handled before. Many entry level employers who regularly sponsor H-1B workers can extend that process to H-1B1 Chile with minimal extra work. Offering to connect them with a flat-fee filing service smooths the conversation significantly.
What documents should I prepare before starting an entry level H-1B1 Chile job search?
Gather your university transcripts, your Chilean passport, and any credential evaluation if your degree was issued outside the U.S. You'll also need a signed job offer letter that specifies your title, start date, and salary before the LCA can be filed. Having these ready before your first offer conversation shows employers the process is straightforward on your end.
