About the job
In this role, you will be at the intersection of hardware prototyping, robotics and software. You will design and build the physical test infrastructure - fixtures, multi-axis alignment rigs, and automated stages - that lets engineering teams verify sensor performance on XR hardware. You will also build the software that drives it: full-stack tools that control robotic testing and validation setup, capture data, and turn raw measurements into actionable results, and the setups are built to be scalable to be used by internal partners and external vendors. You are equally comfortable at a CAD workstation, a Python terminal, and an optical bench — and can translate a one-off lab setup into a documented, scalable system that other teams and AI-assisted tooling can build on.
For decades, the computing revolution has reshaped our world driven by breakthroughs in compute, connectivity, mobile, and now, AI. Google's XR team is at the forefront of the next major leap – the convergence of AI and XR. This is more than just new devices – it's about reimagining how we interact with the world around us. We're building a future where lightweight XR devices like smart glasses and headsets pair with helpful AI to augment human intelligence, offering personalized, conversational, and contextually aware experiences. Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Responsibilities
- Design custom optomechanical test fixtures and multi-axis motion control setups using 3D prototyping and rigorous mechanical alignment tolerances to validate AR/VR hardware.
- Develop full-stack software and automated calibration pipelines for camera intrinsics, extrinsics, and display alignment using Python and computer vision.
- Perform optical alignment and validation using reference targets, camera-based self-alignment, and automated simulation scripts prior to physical builds.
- Leverage AI-assisted development tools to build scalable automation software and document reusable test frameworks across future hardware programs.
- Partner cross-functionally with optics, mechanical, firmware, and manufacturing teams to transition lab-validated methods into scalable, production-ready infrastructure.

Translate your Chilean credentials for U.S. employers
Chilean university degrees need to map directly to a U.S. specialty occupation. Get a credential evaluation confirming your degree is equivalent to a U.S. bachelor's in a field like computer science, business, or engineering before applying.
Verify your role qualifies as a specialty occupation
Solutions Consultant must require a theoretical and practical application of a body of specialized knowledge. Pull the O*NET occupation profile for this role and confirm it lists a bachelor's degree requirement, since that documentation strengthens your H-1B1 visa petition.
Find H-1B1 Chile sponsors using DOL LCA filings
Search Migrate Mate to filter employers with active H-1B1 Chile Labor Condition Applications in Solutions Consultant and adjacent roles. LCA history shows which companies have already navigated the DOL filing process for Chilean nationals specifically.
Target employers already enrolled in E-Verify
H-1B1 Chile employers must participate in E-Verify, so filter your search to companies already enrolled. This eliminates employers who lack the compliance infrastructure to complete sponsorship, saving you time on outreach that won't convert.
Request the LCA before your offer letter is finalized
Your employer files the Labor Condition Application with DOL before you can schedule your consulate appointment. Ask your hiring manager to confirm the LCA timeline during the offer stage so you're not waiting weeks post-acceptance with no clear start date.
Prepare for consulate questions about your client-facing role
H-1B1 Chile consulate officers sometimes probe whether Solutions Consultant work is sufficiently specialized versus general sales support. Bring documentation showing the technical scope of your role, including any presales engineering or implementation responsibilities tied to your degree field.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Solutions Consultant role qualify for H-1B1 Chile sponsorship?
Yes, if the position requires at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related specialty field such as computer science, information systems, or business administration. Roles that blend technical presales with implementation or systems architecture typically qualify. Positions framed purely as account management without a technical degree requirement may face scrutiny from the consulate officer.
How is the H-1B1 Chile visa different from H-1B for a Solutions Consultant?
The H-1B1 Chile visa skips the lottery entirely and is processed directly at a U.S. consulate rather than through USCIS, which means faster turnarounds for most applicants. The annual cap is 1,400 visas for Chilean nationals and has historically gone unfilled. The trade-off is that H-1B1 does not permit dual intent, so it carries a stricter nonimmigrant intent requirement than H-1B.
How do I find employers willing to sponsor an H-1B1 Chile visa for this role?
Use Migrate Mate to search employers with verified H-1B1 Chile Labor Condition Application filings in Solutions Consultant and related technical sales roles. DOL LCA disclosure data shows which companies have already gone through the process for Chilean nationals, making those employers far more likely to sponsor than companies with no prior filing history.
Can my employer file an H-1B1 Chile petition from inside the U.S. if I'm already here?
The H-1B1 Chile visa is consular-based, meaning you generally need to apply at a U.S. consulate abroad rather than adjusting status from within the U.S. If you're already in the U.S. on another valid nonimmigrant status, talk to an immigration attorney about whether a change of status or a consulate appointment abroad is the right path for your situation.
What wage documentation does my employer need for H-1B1 Chile sponsorship?
Your employer must certify in the Labor Condition Application that you'll be paid at least the prevailing wage for the Solutions Consultant occupation in the work location. They determine that figure using the OFLC Wage Search or Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data. The LCA must be certified by DOL before your consulate appointment can be scheduled, so confirm your employer has started this step early.
