Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Visa Sponsorship as a Strategy Associate
Verify your degree matches the role
Strategy Associate roles typically require a bachelor's in business, economics, finance, or a related field. Pull the O*NET occupation profile for your target role code to confirm the degree-to-job match before applying.
Check prevailing wage before negotiating
Your employer's LCA must certify a wage meeting DOL's prevailing wage for your region and role. Run the OFLC Wage Search for your SOC code and metro area so you know the floor before you negotiate your offer.
Target employers with LCA filing history
Not every consulting firm or corporate strategy team has sponsored H-1B1 Chile visas before. Use Migrate Mate to filter employers by verified DOL Labor Condition Application filing history for your occupation code.
Ask about E-Verify enrollment early
Some employers require E-Verify enrollment to maintain compliance after hiring a sponsored worker. Confirm E-Verify status during the offer stage, not after you've signed, since unenrolled employers may need time to complete setup.
Request your LCA before scheduling the consulate
Your employer must receive a certified LCA from DOL before you can apply at the consulate. Follow up with HR at least three weeks before your target appointment date to confirm the LCA is certified, not just filed.
Prepare a specialty occupation letter from your employer
Consular officers can question whether a Strategy Associate role qualifies as a specialty occupation. Ask your employer to draft a detailed support letter explaining the degree requirement, analytical complexity, and how your credentials directly apply.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Strategy Associate role qualify as a specialty occupation for H-1B1 Chile?
Yes, if the position requires at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field such as business, economics, finance, or management. The key test is whether the degree requirement is genuine and specific to the role. Generalist positions where any degree qualifies are more likely to face scrutiny at the consulate, so your employer's support letter should detail the analytical and strategic complexity of the work.
How is the H-1B1 Chile visa different from H-1B for Strategy Associate jobs?
The H-1B1 visa Chile visa has a dedicated annual allocation of 1,400 visas for Chilean nationals and is processed at the U.S. consulate in Chile, with no USCIS employer petition required and no lottery. H-1B visa requires an employer to file a full petition with USCIS and enter a randomized lottery. For Strategy Associate roles, this means H-1B1 Chile gives you a more direct and predictable path to starting work.
How do I find employers who have sponsored H-1B1 Chile visas for strategy roles?
Migrate Mate filters job listings by verified DOL Labor Condition Application filing history, so you can identify employers who have already sponsored workers in strategy and consulting occupations. This is more reliable than asking recruiters, since most HR teams can't distinguish H-1B1 Chile from other work visa categories without being prompted.
Can my H-1B1 Chile visa be renewed if I stay in the same Strategy Associate role?
H-1B1 Chile status is granted in two-year increments and can be renewed indefinitely as long as you maintain a qualifying job offer in a specialty occupation. Each renewal requires a new LCA certification from DOL, so your employer needs to re-engage with the process before your current period expires. There's no cap on the number of renewals.
What happens if my Strategy Associate role transitions to a different title or team?
A material change in job duties, location, or employer generally requires a new LCA and may require a new consular application. A promotion within the same specialty occupation at the same employer typically doesn't trigger a new filing if the underlying degree requirement and wage level remain consistent. Confirm any title change with your employer's HR or legal team before it takes effect.
