Translate your credentials into U.S. terms
Chilean university degrees are generally accepted as equivalent to a U.S. bachelor's degree, but your employer's attorney will confirm this during the LCA process. Have your transcripts translated and evaluated by a credential assessment service before you start applying.
Target companies with existing LCA filing history
Search employer LCA records through Migrate Mate to identify companies that have already sponsored H-1B1 Chile roles in account management or related fields. Past filings signal that the employer understands the process and won't treat your status as a deal-breaker.
Position your global client portfolio as a differentiator
Global Account Manager roles require cross-border relationship management, and your Chilean market experience is directly relevant. Frame your resume around named international accounts and revenue retained, so recruiters see H-1B1 Chile sponsorship as an extension of the role's global scope, not a complication.
Confirm the job meets specialty occupation standards
The H-1B1 visa requires your role to qualify as a specialty occupation. Check the O*NET profile for Global Account Manager to confirm the degree requirement language, then ask the hiring manager whether the job description explicitly requires a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field.
Verify prevailing wage before accepting an offer
Your employer must certify your offered salary meets the DOL prevailing wage before filing the LCA. Run the OFLC Wage Search for your job title and work location so you can confirm compliance independently before negotiations close.
Understand the consulate timeline before your start date
Unlike H-1B visa, there's no USCIS petition stage for H-1B1 Chile. Once the LCA is certified, you apply directly at a U.S. consulate in Chile. Factor in appointment availability and the 10-day grace period before your role's start date when negotiating your first day.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Global Account Manager role qualify for H-1B1 Chile visa sponsorship?
Yes, provided the position requires at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field such as business administration, marketing, international relations, or management. Generic titles won't disqualify you, but the job description must specify a degree requirement. Your employer confirms this standard when they file the Labor Condition Application with DOL.
How does the H-1B1 Chile differ from the H-1B for account management professionals?
The H-1B1 Chile has no lottery and no USCIS petition requirement, so there's no random selection risk and no April filing window to chase. The annual cap is 1,400 visas and rarely fills. You apply at the consulate after your employer obtains LCA certification, which is typically faster than the full H-1B sponsor-and-petition cycle.
How do I find employers who will sponsor H-1B1 Chile visas for Global Account Manager roles?
Migrate Mate lets you search verified LCA filing data filtered by job title and visa type, so you can identify companies that have already sponsored H-1B1 Chile positions in account management. This is more reliable than asking recruiters upfront, since many employers are open to sponsorship but haven't advertised it.
Can I switch employers while on an H-1B1 Chile visa in a Global Account Manager role?
Yes, but you'll need to start the process from the beginning with the new employer. Your new company files a fresh LCA with DOL and you return to a U.S. consulate in Chile for a new visa stamp. There's no H-1B-style portability provision for H-1B1 visa, so plan your transition timeline accordingly before resigning.
How long does H-1B1 Chile visa sponsorship take for an account management hire?
LCA certification typically takes seven business days with DOL. Consulate appointment availability in Chile varies, but many applicants complete the full process within four to six weeks of receiving a job offer. The visa is issued in two-year increments and can be renewed indefinitely as long as you maintain qualifying employment.
