H-1B1 Singapore Visa Account Director Jobs
Account Director roles qualify for H-1B1 Singapore visa sponsorship when the position requires a bachelor's degree in marketing, business, or a related specialty field. Singaporean nationals skip the H-1B lottery entirely, apply directly at the U.S. consulate, and draw from a 5,400-visa annual cap that historically goes unfilled.

ABOUT THE TEAM
OpenAI’s Go To Market team helps organizations understand, adopt, and deploy highly capable AI systems safely and effectively. We partner across Sales, Solutions, Product, Engineering, Research, Support, Marketing, and Partnerships to help customers turn frontier AI into durable business impact.
ABOUT THE ROLE
As an Account Director focused on Hedge Funds, you will own executive and technical relationships with leading buy-side investment firms, including some of the most sophisticated multi-manager, systematic, and data-intensive investment platforms in the world.
This is a highly technical enterprise sales role. You will work with CIOs, CTOs, Heads of AI, data leaders, platform engineering teams, portfolio managers, researchers, and compliance stakeholders to help firms deploy OpenAI across research, data analysis, coding, knowledge retrieval, model evaluation, internal AI platforms, and production workflows.
The ideal candidate can move fluidly between board-level value, front-office investment workflows, and deeply technical conversations about APIs, model routing, evals, retrieval, data security, observability, and responsible deployment in regulated environments.
This role will be based in New York City or San Francisco. We use a hybrid work model of three days in the office per week and offer relocation assistance to new employees.
IN THIS ROLE, YOU’LL:
- Manage a focused portfolio of hedge fund and alternative asset management accounts, developing long-term strategic account plans.
- Lead complex, multi-stakeholder sales cycles across executive, investment, technology, data, AI, research, legal, security, and compliance teams.
- Build trusted relationships with highly technical buyers and internal platform teams who evaluate, integrate, and govern AI across the firm.
- Partner with Solutions, Product, Engineering, and Research to design pilots and scaled deployments with measurable business impact.
- Help customers identify high-value AI use cases across investment research, data analysis, document intelligence, coding, market monitoring, workflow automation, and internal AI platform development.
- Navigate regulated, security-sensitive environments with strong judgment around privacy, compliance, information barriers, and responsible AI deployment.
- Own revenue, consumption, pipeline, and forecast performance for your book of business.
- Track market structure, technology trends, and AI adoption patterns across hedge funds, multi-manager platforms, systematic investors, and adjacent buy-side firms.
- Partner cross-functionally with marketing, partnerships, product, and communications to build OpenAI’s hedge fund go-to-market motion.
YOU MIGHT THRIVE IN THIS ROLE IF YOU:
- Have 14+ years of experience selling complex enterprise software, platform, API, cloud, data, AI, or infrastructure products.
- Have 4+ years selling into financial services, ideally hedge funds, asset managers, capital markets, or other technically sophisticated buy-side institutions.
- Have a strong track record exceeding annual revenue targets of $2M+ in complex enterprise environments.
- Are credible with both C-suite executives and deeply technical stakeholders, including engineering, data, AI/ML, research, and platform teams.
- Understand how hedge funds and investment firms use data, research, analytics, software, and internal platforms to create differentiated investment processes.
- Can translate technical AI capabilities into practical business value for investment, research, engineering, and operational teams.
- Have experience with API-first products, developer platforms, data infrastructure, AI/ML platforms, or similarly technical enterprise solutions.
- Are comfortable navigating ambiguity, competitive accounts, long sales cycles, security reviews, and fast-moving customer priorities.
- Are customer-centric, intellectually curious, and energized by working with some of the most technically demanding customers in financial services.
- Are a builder who can help create a repeatable sales motion in a high-potential vertical that is still taking shape.

Verify your degree field matches the role
Account Director positions must qualify as a specialty occupation, meaning your degree must relate directly to the role's duties. A business administration or marketing degree supports this; a general arts degree without relevant coursework can trigger an RFE.
Search for H-1B1 Singapore sponsors on Migrate Mate
Filter by H-1B1 Singapore sponsorship history to find Account Director openings at companies that have filed LCAs for this visa category before. Prior filing history signals an employer already understands the consular process.
Target agencies and consultancies with global client rosters
Integrated marketing agencies and management consultancies that serve multinational clients file H-1B1 visa LCAs most consistently for Account Director roles. Their legal teams are familiar with the DOL certification requirements and move faster through the process.
Confirm the LCA wage meets DOL prevailing wage standards
Before accepting an offer, cross-check the offered salary against the OFLC Wage Search for your specific job title and metro area. The LCA the employer files with DOL must certify at least the prevailing wage, and a shortfall stalls certification.
Negotiate employer coverage of consulate filing costs
Unlike H-1B, the H-1B1 Singapore process is consular, so there's no I-129 petition fee from USCIS. Clarify during the offer stage which costs the employer covers, including the DS-160 fee and any legal fees for LCA preparation.
Prepare a clear nonimmigrant intent statement for your interview
H-1B1 Singapore is a nonimmigrant visa, so the consular officer will assess your intent to return to Singapore after your authorized period. Document ties to Singapore such as property, family, or ongoing professional affiliations before your interview date.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does an Account Director role qualify as a specialty occupation for H-1B1 Singapore purposes?
Yes, provided the position requires at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field such as marketing, communications, or business administration. The employer must demonstrate the role's complexity and that the degree requirement is standard for that type of position. Account Director roles at agencies and consultancies typically meet this threshold; general management roles with no required field of study may not.
How does H-1B1 Singapore compare to H-1B for Account Director candidates?
H-1B1 Singapore bypasses the H-1B lottery entirely and is processed at the U.S. consulate in Singapore rather than through USCIS. The annual cap of 5,400 visas has never been fully used, so timing is not the constraint it is with H-1B. The trade-off is that H-1B1 Singapore does not confer dual intent, meaning you cannot simultaneously pursue a green card while on this status.
How do I find Account Director jobs where the employer already understands H-1B1 Singapore sponsorship?
Migrate Mate filters job listings by verified H-1B1 Singapore LCA filing history, so you can identify employers who have already navigated the DOL certification and consular process for this visa category. This saves significant time compared to approaching employers who have no prior experience with the H-1B1 Singapore pathway.
What happens to my H-1B1 Singapore status if I switch employers as an Account Director?
Your H-1B1 Singapore status is tied to the sponsoring employer, so a job change requires the new employer to file a fresh LCA with DOL and you'll need to obtain a new visa at the consulate. There is no portability provision equivalent to H-1B's AC21 rule, so you cannot start work with the new employer until the new authorization is in place.
Can my employer extend my H-1B1 Singapore visa beyond the initial two-year period?
Yes, H-1B1 Singapore visas are granted in two-year increments and can be renewed indefinitely as long as you maintain a qualifying job offer and your employer files a new LCA with DOL before each renewal. There is no maximum number of renewals, but each cycle requires a new consular appointment and updated LCA certification reflecting current prevailing wage levels.
