INTRODUCTION
The Design Producer role is the operational force that keeps the RL Design studio running and products shipping. You will own end-to-end design and software production across Meta's Reality Labs device portfolio, orchestrating cross-functional execution at high craft and speed. You'll partner with the project leads and sponsors to co-author a production strategy, assemble and lead sprint teams, navigate hardware and software constraints, and build AI-native workflows that fundamentally change how design production works. This is not a program management role; it's a technical production leadership with creative authority.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements)
- Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews)
- Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies
- Comfort operating at the intersection of creative vision and technical software execution
- Familiarity with software development lifecycles, agile/sprint methodologies, and shipping software at scale
- Background working in studio-model environments
- Experience building AI-powered tools or automations for creative or software production workflows

Align your reel to U.S. specialty occupation standards
USCIS evaluates Producer roles under the specialty occupation definition, meaning your portfolio must reflect degree-level creative and technical judgment, not generalist coordination. Frame your work samples around decisions that required your specific field of study.
Verify your degree equivalency before applications go out
A Singaporean diploma or polytechnic qualification may not satisfy the bachelor's degree requirement on its own. Get a credential evaluation from a NACES-member evaluator and have the report ready before your first offer conversation.
Search H-1B1 Singapore LCA filings on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter employer Labor Condition Application records specific to H-1B1 Singapore filings in media and production. This surfaces studios and networks that have actively sponsored Singaporean nationals, cutting your research time significantly.
Target production companies with DOL LCA history in your genre
Employers who have filed LCAs for Producer roles in scripted, unscripted, or digital content already understand prevailing wage obligations. Cross-reference the OFLC Wage Search for your target job title and location to confirm the wage tier before negotiating.
Clarify the consulate filing timeline with your offer letter
Unlike H-1B visa, H-1B1 visa is processed at the U.S. Embassy in Singapore, not through USCIS. Once you have a signed offer letter and a certified LCA from DOL, consulate appointment scheduling can begin. Build at least six weeks into your start date planning.
Confirm your employer's E-Verify enrollment before signing
H-1B1 employers must be enrolled in E-Verify to maintain compliance. Ask the HR contact directly during the offer stage. An employer who hasn't enrolled will need to complete that step before your consulate application can move forward.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Producer role qualify as a specialty occupation for the H-1B1 Singapore visa?
Yes, provided the employer can document that the position requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field such as film production, communications, or a related discipline. Generalist coordination roles can face scrutiny, so the job description must emphasize the degree-specific judgment the role demands. A well-drafted LCA and offer letter are critical here.
How does the H-1B1 Singapore visa differ from H-1B for Producer roles?
The H-1B1 Singapore visa skips the annual lottery entirely and is capped at 5,400 slots for Singaporeans, a number that has never been exhausted. Processing happens at the U.S. Embassy in Singapore rather than through USCIS, which typically means faster turnaround. The trade-off is that H-1B1 does not allow dual intent, so you cannot file an immigrant visa petition while on H-1B1 status.
How can I find employers who have sponsored H-1B1 Singapore visas for Producer roles?
Migrate Mate lets you filter employer Labor Condition Application records by visa type, including H-1B1 Singapore, and by occupation. Searching for Producer or related SOC codes surfaces studios, networks, and production companies that have filed LCAs for Singaporean nationals, giving you a targeted list of employers already familiar with the sponsorship process.
Can I switch production companies while on an H-1B1 Singapore visa?
Yes, but each new employer must file a fresh LCA with DOL and obtain a new H-1B1 visa stamp, since H-1B1 does not carry the H-1B portability protections that allow you to start work upon filing. You cannot begin work with the new employer until the new consular visa is issued, so plan your transition timeline carefully.
What prevailing wage level applies to Producer roles under the H-1B1 Singapore visa?
Prevailing wage is determined by the specific job duties, location, and the DOL occupational classification your employer assigns. Use the OFLC Wage Search to look up wage levels for Producer or the relevant SOC code in your target city before negotiations. Your employer's LCA must certify a wage at or above that level, and the offer letter must reflect it.
