Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Visa Sponsorship as a Program Manager
Translate your credentials into U.S. equivalents
NUS or NTU degrees are generally accepted as equivalent to U.S. bachelor's degrees, but your employer's HR team may not know this. Pull your O*NET profile for Program Manager to confirm the degree and field requirements USCIS recognizes for specialty occupation classification.
Target employers with established LCA filing histories
Search Migrate Mate to identify U.S. companies that have already filed Labor Condition Applications for Program Manager roles. Prior LCA filings signal that an employer understands the H-1B1 visa process and has compliance infrastructure in place.
Distinguish H-1B1 status from H-1B during outreach
Many U.S. hiring managers conflate H-1B1 with H-1B and assume a lottery is involved. Clarify upfront that your visa processes at the consulate, requires no USCIS petition, and doesn't compete for a lottery slot, since this removes the primary objection most tech and consulting employers have.
Verify your prospective employer's E-Verify enrollment
Federal contractors and some regulated industries require E-Verify enrollment before onboarding any sponsored worker. Confirm this before accepting an offer, because unenrolled employers face additional steps that can delay your consulate appointment and work start date.
Request the LCA before scheduling your consulate appointment
Your employer must file and receive DOL certification of the Labor Condition Application before you can apply for the H-1B1 at the consulate. Build at least two to three weeks into your timeline between the LCA submission and your visa interview date.
Check prevailing wage levels using the OFLC Wage Search
Program Manager prevailing wages vary significantly by metro area. Use the OFLC Wage Search before your offer negotiation to confirm your offered salary meets at least the Level I DOL threshold for your work location, since underpaying invalidates the LCA.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Program Manager role qualify as a specialty occupation for the H-1B1 Singapore visa?
Yes, Program Manager qualifies as a specialty occupation when the role requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a directly related field such as engineering, computer science, business, or a technical discipline. The employer confirms this on the Labor Condition Application. Roles that accept any degree regardless of field may face scrutiny, so job descriptions specifying a relevant field of study strengthen the application.
How does the H-1B1 Singapore visa differ from the H-1B for Program Manager roles?
The H-1B1 has no lottery, no USCIS petition requirement, and a dedicated annual cap of 5,400 visas for Singaporeans that has never filled. You apply directly at the U.S. consulate with employer-certified LCA documents, bypassing the April lottery cycle entirely. The tradeoff is that the H-1B1 doesn't permit dual intent, so it's best suited for professionals not yet pursuing permanent residency.
Where can I find Program Manager jobs with H-1B1 Singapore visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate filters job listings by employers with verified LCA filing histories, so you can see which companies have sponsored Program Manager roles under H-1B visa categories. This removes the guesswork of cold-applying to employers who have never navigated visa sponsorship and helps you prioritize outreach to companies with established compliance processes.
Can I switch employers after starting work on an H-1B1 Singapore visa?
Yes, but your new employer must file a fresh LCA with DOL and you'll need to return to the consulate for a new H-1B1 visa stamp before reentering the U.S. There's no portability provision equivalent to what H-1B holders use. Build transition time into your planning, since consulate appointment availability varies by location and season.
What documents does my employer need to prepare for my H-1B1 consulate appointment?
Your employer must obtain a certified Labor Condition Application from DOL, then provide you with the LCA, a support letter confirming your role and specialty occupation classification, and evidence of the company's ability to pay the prevailing wage. You bring these to the consulate along with your DS-160, appointment confirmation, and passport. USCIS does not adjudicate H-1B1 petitions, so there's no separate I-129 approval notice required.
