Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Visa Sponsorship as a Sourcing Manager
Verify your degree supports specialty occupation
Sourcing Manager roles must qualify as a specialty occupation requiring a specific bachelor's degree. A general business degree may not suffice if the job description lists broad management duties. Cross-reference your credentials against the O*NET occupation profile for Purchasing Managers before applying.
Target employers with active LCA filing history
Use Migrate Mate to filter Sourcing Manager roles by employers who have filed Labor Condition Applications for this occupation code. LCA history signals an employer already understands the H-1B1 visa filing process and won't back out at the offer stage.
Request the LCA before scheduling your consulate appointment
Your employer files the LCA with DOL before you can apply at the consulate. Confirm the LCA is certified and that the job title and wage level on it match your offer letter exactly. Discrepancies at the interview cause delays that can push your start date back by weeks.
Use OFLC Wage Search to benchmark your offer
The prevailing wage on your LCA must meet DOL standards for the Sourcing Manager occupation in your specific metro area. Run the OFLC Wage Search yourself before accepting an offer to confirm your salary meets the requirement, since a wage that falls short invalidates the LCA.
Prepare supply chain credentials for the consular interview
Consular officers assess whether your role genuinely requires a specialized degree. Bring documentation linking your sourcing responsibilities to your degree field, such as procurement certifications, vendor contract examples, or an employer letter detailing technical sourcing qualifications the role requires.
Clarify H-1B1 renewal terms with your employer upfront
The H-1B1 is issued in one-year increments and requires annual employer renewal, unlike the H-1B's three-year initial period. Confirm your employer's HR team knows this timeline before you accept, since some companies assume H-1B renewal cycles and are unprepared for the annual process.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Sourcing Manager role qualify as a specialty occupation under H-1B1 Singapore?
Yes, but the job description must establish that the role requires a bachelor's degree in a directly related field such as supply chain management, industrial engineering, or business with a sourcing concentration. Generic management language in a job description can create problems at the consulate if it suggests the role doesn't require a specific degree field.
How does the H-1B1 Singapore differ from H-1B for Sourcing Manager positions?
The H-1B1 has no lottery, no USCIS petition, and is processed directly at a U.S. consulate in Singapore. The trade-off is that it doesn't allow dual intent, so you can't simultaneously pursue a green card. For Sourcing Managers focused on building U.S. experience rather than permanent residency, the H-1B1's faster, cap-unconstrained process is a practical advantage.
How do I find Sourcing Manager roles where employers already understand H-1B1 Singapore sponsorship?
Migrate Mate filters job listings by employers with LCA filing history for supply chain and procurement roles, which identifies companies that have navigated work visa sponsorship before. This saves you from spending weeks in conversations with employers who decline at the offer stage once they learn sponsorship is involved.
Can I switch employers after arriving in the U.S. on an H-1B1 Singapore visa?
Yes, but each employer change requires a new LCA and a new consulate appointment in Singapore. Unlike H-1B portability, you can't simply transfer your status to a new employer while staying in the U.S. Plan for a gap between roles and budget time to return to Singapore for the new visa stamp before starting with the next employer.
What happens if my Sourcing Manager H-1B1 is not renewed before expiration?
The H-1B1 does not include an automatic grace period in the same way H-1B does. If your employer fails to file a new LCA and your status lapses, you lose authorization to work in the U.S. Build a renewal calendar at least three months before your annual expiration date and confirm your employer's HR team has the process on their schedule.
