Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Visa Sponsorship as an Assistant Project Manager
Align your credentials with H-2B scope
H-2B visa covers temporary, non-agricultural work, so frame your project coordination experience around seasonal or project-based contracts. Employers filing for Assistant Project Manager roles must show the need is temporary, so your background should reflect that kind of work cycle.
Target employers with DOL filing history
Search Migrate Mate to find employers who have filed H-2B labor certifications for project management roles. Employers with prior DOL filings already understand prevailing wage obligations and the certification timeline, which shortens your sponsorship negotiation considerably.
Verify the prevailing wage before negotiating
Your offered wage must meet or exceed the DOL-set prevailing wage for Assistant Project Manager roles in the job location. Use the OFLC Wage Search to check the current rate before you negotiate, so your offer doesn't stall at the certification stage.
Push for an early-season start date
The H-2B cap fills fast, especially the October 1 winter half. Confirm with your employer that the I-129 petition and labor certification are submitted well before the cap opens, since late filings risk landing outside the numerical limit entirely.
Confirm the job duties qualify under O*NET
Employers must classify your role using a specific O*NET occupational code when filing the temporary labor certification. Ask your prospective employer which code they intend to use and cross-check it against the actual duties in your offer letter to avoid mismatches during DOL review.
Clarify status between seasons before accepting
H-2B status is tied to the certified employment period. If the construction or landscaping season ends early or extends, your status changes accordingly. Confirm with the employer how they handle early completions, extensions, and whether USCIS is notified promptly.
Frequently Asked Questions
Where can I find Assistant Project Manager jobs with H-2B sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. It surfaces Assistant Project Manager roles at employers who have filed H-2B labor certifications with DOL, so you're not guessing which companies are willing to sponsor. Filter by role and location to find active opportunities tied to verified sponsorship history.
How does the H-2B annual cap affect my Assistant Project Manager application?
USCIS limits H-2B visas to 66,000 per fiscal year, split into two halves of 33,000 each. The October 1 winter half and April 1 summer half both fill quickly. Your employer must file the temporary labor certification with DOL and then submit the I-129 petition to USCIS before the cap closes, making early coordination essential for construction and infrastructure roles.
Does my project management experience need to be seasonal to qualify?
Yes. H-2B requires the employer to demonstrate the need for the role is temporary, not permanent. Your experience as an Assistant Project Manager should reflect time-limited project cycles, seasonal construction demands, or defined contract periods. Employers who can document a recurring but temporary need, like annual infrastructure projects, have a stronger case during DOL review.
What documents should I prepare before an employer begins my H-2B filing?
Gather your credential documents early: a valid passport with sufficient validity, any construction or project management certifications relevant to the role, and employment verification letters from prior seasonal positions. Your employer will need these to support the temporary labor certification and I-129 petition. Delays in providing documentation can push the filing past the cap opening date.
