H-2B Visa Roofing Jobs
Roofing jobs with H-2B visa sponsorship are available through U.S. construction employers who petition the DOL for temporary labor certification each season. The 66,000-visa annual cap fills quickly, so timing your job search and employer outreach before the filing window opens is critical to securing a sponsored position.

Document your roofing credentials before applying
Gather proof of hands-on experience: prior employment letters, safety certifications like OSHA 10 or 30, and any manufacturer training records. H-2B visa employers must show the DOL that sponsored workers are genuinely qualified for the role, so documentation gaps slow petitions.
Target employers in peak-season roofing markets
Focus your search on contractors in storm-prone or high-growth regions where seasonal labor shortages are well-documented. Employers in those markets are more likely to have filed H-2B petitions before and understand the certification process your sponsorship requires.
Search verified H-2B roofing employers on Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate filters roofing jobs by H-2B sponsorship history, so you're applying to employers who have actually navigated the DOL labor certification process, not just those who say they're open to it.
Confirm the job offer letter meets DOL requirements
Your offer letter must specify the temporary dates of need, the worksite location, and the offered wage relative to the prevailing wage rate. Use the OFLC Wage Search to verify that what your employer lists matches the certified rate for your county.
Ask your employer about the cap registration window
USCIS opens H-2B cap registration before the fiscal-year halves, and slots run out fast. Confirm your employer is filing well ahead of your intended start date so your petition lands while cap numbers are still available.
Review your O*NET occupation profile before interviews
The O*NET profile for roofing occupations lists the specific tasks, tools, and skills DOL and USCIS expect sponsored workers to perform. Matching your experience to that profile in interviews signals to employers that you're ready to start without additional training.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find roofing jobs with H-2B visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to search for roofing employers who have filed H-2B petitions with the DOL. Because the sponsorship process requires employers to obtain a temporary labor certification before hiring, targeting companies with prior filing history saves time and avoids dead ends. Start your search early, before the cap registration window opens each season.
How does the H-2B annual cap affect roofing workers?
USCIS issues a maximum of 66,000 H-2B visas each fiscal year, split into two halves of 33,000 for workers starting before and after April 1. Roofing demand spikes in spring and summer, putting heavy pressure on the first-half allocation. If your employer files after the cap is reached, your start date could be pushed to the next period, so petition timing matters as much as job offer timing.
Does my roofing experience need to be formally certified to qualify?
Formal certification is not required by USCIS, but your employer must demonstrate to the DOL that the position requires a worker with specific skills and that qualified U.S. workers are not available. Employment reference letters, OSHA safety training records, and documented project history all strengthen your employer's petition and support your credibility as a sponsored candidate.
Can I change roofing employers once I'm working on an H-2B visa?
H-2B status is tied to the specific employer named in the approved petition. If you want to work for a different roofing contractor, that new employer must file a separate H-2B petition with the DOL and USCIS on your behalf before you begin work. Changing employers without an approved petition in place puts your status at risk.
