H-2B Visa Maintenance Technician Jobs
Maintenance Technician jobs with H-2B visa sponsorship are common at resorts, ski areas, campgrounds, and seasonal hospitality properties that need licensed repair and facilities staff for peak operating periods. Employers must secure DOL temporary labor certification before filing, and the 66,000-visa annual cap fills fast, so timing your application to an employer's petition cycle matters.

INTRODUCTION
When Alfred Fain founded a small Rhode Island tire store in 1924, at the time no one could have predicted how Teknor Apex would become an international custom compounder sought out by companies around the world. After a nearly hundred-year journey that’s carried us through acquisitions and expansion, we now have nine U.S. locations, as well as operations in Belgium, Singapore, Germany, and China.
Throughout this global expansion Teknor has remained a privately held company, and today Fain’s grandson sits at the helm, maintaining the family’s tradition of fostering deep employee and customer relationships. These relationships are what allow us—together—to deliver customized compound solutions and help our customer’s create better products.
“Manufacturing is a team sport and we work together to achieve our goals.” ~Jon Fain

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Visa Sponsorship as a Maintenance Technician
Document your trade certifications before applying
H-2B visa employers filing for Maintenance Technicians often list HVAC, EPA 608, or electrical certifications in their temporary labor certification. Having verified copies of any trade licenses ready speeds up employer verification and strengthens your petition package.
Target employers with multi-season hiring histories
Resorts, theme parks, and campground operators that rehire the same H-2B workers annually already have DOL-approved job descriptions for Maintenance Technician roles. Returning workers are often named in petitions, which bypasses the open recruitment requirement.
Search verified H-2B employer listings on Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate surfaces maintenance roles at employers with active H-2B filing histories, so you're not guessing which properties actually sponsor. Filter by season and region to match your availability to an employer's DOL-certified need period.
Confirm the employer's wage meets DOL prevailing standards
Before accepting an offer, check the OFLC Wage Search to verify the posted Maintenance Technician wage meets the prevailing rate for that county. Employers are legally required to pay the higher of the prevailing wage or the offered wage under H-2B rules.
Understand the cap split and apply for the right half
The 66,000 annual H-2B cap is split into 33,000 for October through March starts and 33,000 for April through September. Applying to a ski resort for a January start means your employer must file in the first-half lottery window, not the summer allocation.
Negotiate a written offer before the I-129 is filed
USCIS requires a confirmed job offer as part of the I-129 petition for H-2B workers. Get your start date, worksite location, and duties in writing before your employer submits, since changes after filing can require an amended petition and delay your entry.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Maintenance Technician jobs that offer H-2B visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is the fastest way to find Maintenance Technician roles at employers with verified H-2B filing histories. Because H-2B sponsorship requires employers to go through DOL labor certification before posting, not every property that needs seasonal maintenance staff will advertise sponsorship openly. Migrate Mate filters for employers who have actually filed, so your search targets properties already set up to sponsor.
How does the H-2B visa cap affect my chances as a Maintenance Technician?
The H-2B program issues 66,000 visas per fiscal year, split into two halves of 33,000 each. When demand exceeds the cap, USCIS runs a lottery among petitions received on the first filing day. Employers hiring Maintenance Technicians for summer resorts or winter ski areas typically file as early as 90 days before the start date, so your employer's timing relative to the filing window directly affects whether a visa slot is available for you.
What skills or credentials make a Maintenance Technician more competitive for H-2B sponsorship?
Employers filing for H-2B Maintenance Technicians frequently specify trade certifications in their DOL temporary labor certification, including EPA 608 for refrigerant handling, HVAC licenses, or electrical journeyman credentials. Having documentation of these qualifications gives employers a stronger basis to justify the hire and can influence whether USCIS approves the petition without a Request for Evidence.
Can I return to the same H-2B employer the following season as a Maintenance Technician?
Yes. H-2B workers who return to the same employer for the same seasonal role can be named individually in the petition, which means the employer can bypass the open U.S. worker recruitment requirement for returning staff. Your prior employment record with that property and a clean departure from your previous H-2B stay both matter when your employer files the next season's petition with USCIS and DOL.
