H-2B Visa Plumber Jobs
Plumber jobs with H-2B visa sponsorship are available through U.S. employers in construction, resort maintenance, and seasonal facilities management. Sponsors must obtain DOL labor certification before filing with USCIS, and the 66,000-visa annual cap fills fast, so timing your application to the semi-annual release windows is critical.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Plumber Jobs
Document your pipe trade credentials early
Gather your plumbing license, journeyman certificates, and any apprenticeship records before employers begin filing. H-2B visa petitions require evidence that your skills match the job duties, and missing documents delay the DOL certification stage.
Target resorts and campus facilities employers
Ski resorts, national park concessionaires, and large hospitality campuses repeatedly sponsor H-2B plumbers for seasonal maintenance cycles. These employers file early in October and April to beat the cap, so approach them months before peak season.
Search verified H-2B sponsors on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter employers with confirmed H-2B plumbing filings. You'll see which companies have an active sponsorship history, so you're not cold-applying to employers who've never run the DOL certification process.
Understand the semi-annual cap release dates
USCIS releases 33,000 H-2B visas each October 1 for winter-start jobs and 33,000 each April 1 for summer-start jobs. If your employer misses the filing window after cap exhaustion, your start date shifts a full season, so confirm their filing timeline upfront.
Verify your wage matches DOL prevailing rates
Your employer must certify your offered wage meets the DOL prevailing wage for plumbers in the worksite county. Cross-check the posted wage against OFLC Wage Search before signing an offer letter to confirm the employer isn't undervaluing the role.
Confirm your O*NET job code matches your duties
H-2B labor certifications are tied to a specific O*NET occupation code. If your employer files under a general laborer code rather than the Plumbers, Pipefitters, and Steamfitters code, USCIS may question whether your qualifications align with the certified position.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find plumber jobs with H-2B visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to find U.S. employers who have actually sponsored H-2B workers for plumbing roles. The platform shows verified DOL filing history, so you can target companies with a proven track record of running the labor certification process rather than employers who are unfamiliar with H-2B requirements.
How does the H-2B cap affect my chances of getting a plumber job?
USCIS caps H-2B visas at 66,000 per fiscal year, split into two 33,000-visa pools for winter and summer start dates. Cap exhaustion can happen within days of each release window opening. Employers who file the moment USCIS begins accepting petitions give you the strongest chance of landing under the cap. Late-filing employers often lose out entirely for that season.
Does my home-country plumbing license count toward H-2B qualification?
H-2B doesn't require a U.S. license, but your employer's DOL job order must match your demonstrated skills and experience. A foreign plumbing license, journeyman certificate, or documented apprenticeship strengthens the petition by showing you meet the stated job requirements. Some states require licensed plumbers on permitted work even for H-2B employees, so your employer's job duties description needs to account for that.
Can I switch plumbing employers while on an H-2B visa?
H-2B status is tied to the specific employer and job listed on the approved petition. If you want to work for a different employer, they must file a new H-2B petition on your behalf and obtain fresh DOL labor certification. You generally can't begin work with the new employer until USCIS approves the transfer petition, so plan for the processing timeline before leaving your current role.
