H-2B Visa Maintenance Jobs
Maintenance jobs with H-2B visa sponsorship are available at resorts, campgrounds, theme parks, and ski areas that rely on seasonal workers for facilities upkeep. Employers must obtain DOL labor certification before filing with USCIS, and the 66,000-visa annual cap means timing your search early is critical.

INTRODUCTION
When Alfred Fain founded a small Rhode Island tire store in 1924, at the time no one could have predicted how Teknor Apex would become an international custom compounder sought out by companies around the world. After a nearly hundred-year journey that’s carried us through acquisitions and expansion, we now have nine U.S. locations, as well as operations in Belgium, Singapore, Germany, and China.
Throughout this global expansion Teknor has remained a privately held company, and today Fain’s grandson sits at the helm, maintaining the family’s tradition of fostering deep employee and customer relationships. These relationships are what allow us—together—to deliver customized compound solutions and help our customer’s create better products.
“Manufacturing is a team sport and we work together to achieve our goals.” ~Jon Fain

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Maintenance Jobs
Document your maintenance certifications before applying
Gather trade certifications, HVAC licenses, and equipment operation records before outreach. H-2B visa employers file labor certifications with DOL proving no U.S. workers are available, and documented skills strengthen your candidacy in that petition.
Target seasonal resort and campground employers first
Ski resorts, beach hotels, and national park concessionaires repeat H-2B filings every season. Facilities maintenance roles at these properties turn over predictably, so you're more likely to find an employer already approved for seasonal worker sponsorship.
Search H-2B maintenance jobs on Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate filters maintenance listings by employers with active H-2B sponsorship history, so you're not cold-applying to properties that have never filed. Search by season and region to match your availability to the employer's certification window.
Understand the cap's two filing windows
The 66,000 annual cap splits into 33,000 for winter-start jobs and 33,000 for summer-start jobs. Maintenance roles at ski resorts fall under the winter allocation; summer resort openings fall under the second. Applying to employers filing in the wrong half resets your timeline.
Confirm your employer's prevailing wage before accepting an offer
Your employer must pay the DOL-certified prevailing wage for your occupation and worksite location. Check the wage their labor certification lists against the OFLC Wage Search to verify the offer matches what was submitted to DOL.
Ask employers about E-Verify enrollment before signing
H-2B employers aren't universally required to use E-Verify, but many resort and facilities operators are federal contractors who must enroll. Confirming enrollment status before your start date prevents authorization disputes once you're on-site.
Frequently Asked Questions
Where can I find maintenance jobs with H-2B visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is the recommended starting point. It surfaces maintenance job listings from employers with documented H-2B sponsorship history, so you can filter by season, region, and role type without guessing whether a property has ever filed for temporary non-agricultural workers. Seasonal resorts, theme parks, and campground operators are the most consistent sources of H-2B maintenance openings.
How does the H-2B cap affect when I should apply for a maintenance role?
The H-2B program has a 66,000-visa annual cap split into two halves: 33,000 for positions starting October 1 through March 31, and 33,000 for positions starting April 1 through September 30. Maintenance roles at ski resorts typically fall under the winter half, while summer resort positions compete for the summer allocation. Employers must file with DOL well before your intended start date, so targeting openings at least three to four months ahead gives your prospective employer enough runway to complete the labor certification before cap numbers are exhausted.
What qualifications do H-2B employers expect for seasonal maintenance roles?
Most seasonal maintenance positions require practical experience with HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical basics, or groundskeeping equipment rather than a formal degree. Trade certifications, prior resort or facilities experience, and equipment operation records carry significant weight. DOL's O*NET profile for General Maintenance and Repair Workers outlines the skill set employers reference when writing their labor certification job descriptions.
Can I switch maintenance employers during an H-2B season if my original employer closes or reduces hours?
H-2B status is employer-specific, meaning your authorization is tied to the petitioning employer listed on your I-129. If that employer's hours drop significantly or the operation closes, you cannot simply transfer to another property without a new H-2B petition filed by the new employer. USCIS does not provide a formal portability provision for H-2B workers the way it does for some other visa categories, so any job change mid-season requires your new employer to restart the DOL certification and USCIS filing process.
