Role Overview
We are hiring a hands-on leader to own how Harvey designs its GTM incentive strategy for its go-to-market organization. As Head of GTM Incentive Strategy, you will design the incentive architecture that turns our revenue strategy into the plans, quotas, and payouts that motivate and reward our sellers. This is a design-first, high-ownership role: you will set the compensation philosophy, build the plans, and put the modeling and governance in place to keep them fair, motivating, and defensible as we scale.
What You'll Do
Own the end to end design of GTM incentive compensation across both pre- and post-sales organizations, including quota carrying AEs, sales leadership, solutions and overlay teams, customer success, etc.
Build the models that forecast plan cost, incentive ROI, and attainment distribution; run scenario analysis to stress-test designs before they ship and diagnose plans already in market
Partner with Compensation Business Partner to align OTE, pay mix, and leverage to market benchmarks and internal equity, and to keep plan spend inside budget
Set and communicate the compensation philosophy: produce executive-ready narratives on plan performance and risk, and educate GTM leaders and sellers so plans drive the behavior they are designed to reward
Architect plan mechanics that scale with hypergrowth, including quota structures, accelerators, multipliers, and SPIFFs
Translate GTM strategy changes - new segments, product and pricing launches, territory and coverage-model shifts - into comp plan updates delivered with speed and accuracy
Partner with compensation admin team on the ICM platform, quota-to-payout reconciliation, payout automation, and real-time earnings visibility for sellers and managers
Establish the governance layer - plan documentation, cross-functional approval workflows, version control, and audit-ready practices - and lead dispute resolution with clear SLAs and consistent outcomes
Partner with Finance on how goals translate to outcomes and the subsequent incentive strategy
What You Have
10+ years in sales/incentive compensation design, revenue operations, or a closely related field, with demonstrated experience owning plan design at scale in a B2B SaaS environment
Deep, hands-on expertise designing incentive structures sales organizations - accelerators, SPIFFs, overlays, and co-sell frameworks
Strong analytical and modeling skills, with the ability to structure ambiguous questions, work with incomplete data, and quantify the cost and ROI of design decisions
Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders across Sales, Finance, People, and Legal through clear communication, strong judgment, and data-backed recommendations
Comfort operating autonomously as a leader and function owner - setting direction and building the function directly, with or without a team beneath you
Bonus: experience in high-growth or hypergrowth organizations, with consumption- or usage-based pricing dynamics, or in AI / legal technology
Compensation
$212,000 - $318,000 USD

Tips for Your Head Of Gtm Job Search
Quantify your pipeline influence clearly
Head of gtm hiring managers want to see the revenue impact you drove, not just the programs you ran. Rewrite each resume bullet to show how your go-to-market work moved a measurable outcome, like pipeline coverage ratio, win rate, or time-to-close.
Align your specialty to the company stage
A series B startup needs a head of gtm who can build motion from scratch, while a late-stage company needs someone who can scale and systematize. Read the job description for signals about stage, then tailor your positioning to match what that stage actually requires.
Apply early to roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists head of gtm openings from across the United States in one place, so you can find roles that match and apply directly to each listing.
Build a narrative across product and sales
Head of gtm roles sit at the intersection of product, marketing, and sales, so interviewers probe whether you can credibly own all three. Prepare a single story that shows how you coordinated those functions on one specific launch or initiative, and practice telling it in under three minutes.
Ask the right questions about GTM ownership
In interviews, clarify whether you'll own budget, headcount, and cross-functional authority, or whether you'll be a senior individual contributor with influence but no control. That distinction changes the role entirely, and asking about it signals you understand how go-to-market functions actually work.
Negotiate on scope before title or compensation
Head of gtm offers often leave room to negotiate the charter, team structure, or reporting relationship before you finalize anything else. Getting clarity on those terms early protects you from discovering the role is narrower than the title implied once you have already accepted.
Head Of Gtm Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies are hiring the most head of gtms?
The companies hiring the most head of gtms right now include SentiLink, TheSoul, and bob, with the largest share of openings in California, New York, and Massachusetts, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. SaaS and enterprise software companies tend to post the highest volume of these roles consistently.
How many head of gtm jobs are remote?
About 71% of head of gtm openings are fully remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting how heavily this role relies on cross-functional coordination rather than physical presence. Strategy, messaging, and enablement sub-functions within the role are most likely to be offered with remote flexibility, while roles tied to field sales or event-driven GTM motions tend to require more in-person work.
How do you become a head of gtm?
Most heads of gtm come up through product marketing, growth, or sales strategy roles where they owned a measurable piece of the revenue motion. Building toward this title means taking on cross-functional projects that give you ownership across product launches, sales enablement, and demand generation, then moving into a director or VP role where you lead a team doing all three. Demonstrating that you can hold a revenue number, not just a marketing metric, is what separates candidates who get the offer from those who stay in mid-level roles.
Can I get a head of gtm role with little experience?
Breaking into a head of gtm role without a long leadership history is possible but requires a specific angle. Startups at the seed or series A stage often hire their first head of gtm from the ranks of senior individual contributors who have already built a GTM motion informally. The strongest path is to take ownership of a launch or a market segment in your current role, document the revenue outcome, and position yourself as the person who figured out how to sell the product, not just market it.
What does the head of gtm interview process look like?
Head of gtm interviews typically run across four to six rounds and include a structured conversation with the CEO or founder, a cross-functional panel with heads of sales, product, and marketing, and a take-home or live case study where you build or critique a GTM plan. Expect detailed questions about a specific market entry or launch you owned, including what you got wrong and how you adjusted. Many companies also conduct reference checks focused on how you influenced people who did not report to you.
Where can I find and apply to head of gtm jobs?
You can find and apply to head of gtm jobs on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from companies across the United States. Search the roles available, find the ones that match your background and the company stage you want to work in, and apply directly to each listing that fits.
