Entry Level Hospice Director Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level hospice director job?
Focus on experience that shows you can coordinate care, support patients and families, and work within a multidisciplinary team. Internships, clinical rotations, or volunteer work in hospice or palliative care settings give you a real edge. Employers at this level also look for familiarity with Medicare hospice regulations and strong communication skills. A relevant degree in healthcare administration, nursing, or social work strengthens your application significantly.
Which companies hire entry level hospice directors?
Companies hiring entry level hospice directors right now include Amedisys, Optum, and Gentiva, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hiring at this level comes primarily from regional hospice agencies, home health networks, and nonprofit palliative care organizations that regularly bring in candidates to grow into the director role.
Are there remote entry level hospice director jobs?
Yes, though most hospice director roles involve on-site patient and team oversight. About 3% of entry level hospice director openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, typically covering administrative, intake coordination, or consulting functions rather than direct daily patient care management.
Are these new grad hospice director jobs?
Yes, many of these listings are new grad friendly, including roles for recent graduates and junior candidates. A new grad posting at this level typically welcomes zero to two years of experience and treats internships, clinical placements, or a portfolio of relevant coursework as qualifying background. Look for postings that say 'new graduates encouraged to apply' or list experience as preferred rather than required.
Which industries hire the most entry level hospice directors?
Entry Level hospice director roles concentrate in Healthcare & Medical Services, Consulting & Professional Services, and Insurance, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Those sectors drive hiring at this level because they operate dedicated hospice and palliative programs that need emerging administrators who can grow into full leadership as they build hands-on experience.
