HR Business Partner Jobs in Michigan: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a hr business partner in Michigan?
Most hr business partner roles in Michigan require a bachelor's degree in human resources, business, or a related field as a baseline. Michigan does not have a state-issued license for HR professionals, but employers strongly prefer candidates who hold the SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR credential. Building experience through HR coordinator or generalist roles at Michigan manufacturers, hospital systems, or universities is the most common path into a business partner position.
How much do HR business partners make in Michigan?
HR business partners in Michigan earn a median of about $138,930 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $88,990 for the lowest 10% to over $224,880 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire hr business partners in Michigan?
Employers hiring hr business partners in Michigan right now include Aspirus Health, Amazon, and FANUC Corporation, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Michigan's concentration of automotive OEMs, large health systems, and Big Ten university employers creates steady year-round demand for the role across the state.
Which Michigan cities have the most hr business partner jobs?
Michigan, Detroit, and Lansing have the most hr business partner openings in Michigan. Detroit dominates because it is home to major automotive headquarters and regional corporate offices, while Grand Rapids draws demand from a growing healthcare and manufacturing base, and Ann Arbor's openings are largely driven by the University of Michigan and the technology companies that have clustered around it.
Are there remote hr business partner jobs in Michigan?
Yes, and more than many HR roles, because hr business partner work often involves strategic advising, data analysis, and virtual meetings that translate well to remote formats. About 41% of hr business partner openings tied to Michigan are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting a broader shift in corporate HR structures. Employee relations and labor relations work, however, tends to remain on-site given the hands-on nature of those responsibilities.
How can I get hired as a hr business partner in Michigan with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is landing an HR coordinator or HR generalist role first, then transitioning internally once you have demonstrated business impact. Large Michigan employers like General Motors, Beaumont Health, and Michigan State University regularly hire HR coordinators and associates who can move into business partner tracks over time. Earning the SHRM-CP credential early gives candidates a concrete edge, and volunteer roles with the Michigan SHRM state council can build the professional network that opens doors.
Where can I find and apply to hr business partner jobs in Michigan?
You can find and apply to hr business partner jobs in Michigan on Migrate Mate, which lists current Michigan openings across industries and experience levels. Find roles that fit your background and apply directly to the employers posting them.
