Insurance Agent Jobs in Utah: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a insurance agent in Utah?
To become a licensed insurance agent in Utah, you must complete a state-approved pre-licensing education course, pass the relevant exam administered through Pearson VUE, and submit an application to the Utah Insurance Department. Utah offers separate producer licenses for lines including Property and Casualty, Life, and Accident and Health. Most employers expect you to hold the license before your start date, though some larger agencies will sponsor candidates who are actively in the process.
Which companies hire insurance agents in Utah?
Utah insurance agent roles are posted by State Farm, Do Right Insurance, and AAA Mountain West and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Utah's mix of large regional carriers, national captive agencies, and independent brokerages means openings appear across a wide range of employer types throughout the Salt Lake Valley and the Wasatch Front.
Which Utah cities have the most insurance agent jobs?
Salt Lake City, Orem, and Saint George have the most insurance agent openings in Utah. Salt Lake City dominates because it is home to the largest concentration of regional carrier offices and commercial brokerages, while Provo benefits from a fast-growing technology and small-business economy that drives commercial lines demand, and St. George sees steady volume from retiree-driven life and Medicare supplement activity.
Are there remote insurance agent jobs in Utah?
Yes, and more than many client-facing roles, because licensed producers in personal and life lines often work by phone and video rather than in person. About 50% of insurance agent openings tied to Utah are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting that arrangement. The most remote-compatible specialties are individual life, final expense, and Medicare supplement lines, where the full sales and service cycle happens without a physical meeting.
How can I get hired as a insurance agent in Utah with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is joining a captive agency as a trainee producer, where the agency sponsors your Utah Insurance Department pre-licensing coursework and exam fees in exchange for a production commitment. Large State Farm and Allstate agency owners along the Wasatch Front regularly take on candidates without prior insurance experience. Customer service representative and client support roles at Utah-based brokerages are a strong lateral move, and holding even a single active producer line before you apply gives you a meaningful edge over unlicensed applicants.
Where can I find and apply to insurance agent jobs in Utah?
You can find and apply to insurance agent jobs in Utah on Migrate Mate, which lists current Utah openings from carriers, captive agencies, and independent brokerages across the state. Search the listings to find roles that match your license lines, experience level, and preferred location, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
