Entry Level Internal Medicine Physician Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level internal medicine physician job?
Completing your residency training and obtaining state licensure are the foundational steps employers expect at this stage. Candidates who stand out typically have documented clinical rotations, strong letters of recommendation from attending physicians, and board certification or eligibility. Applying to hospital systems, group practices, and federally qualified health centers that explicitly recruit new physicians straight out of residency gives you the best entry point.
Which companies hire entry level internal medicine physicians?
Companies hiring entry level internal medicine physicians right now include Optum, CommonSpirit Health, and Fairview Health Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. At this level, hiring tends to come from health systems, multispecialty group practices, and outpatient clinics that have structured onboarding programs designed to bring new physicians up to speed quickly.
Are there remote entry level internal medicine physician jobs?
Yes, though most internal medicine physician roles are on-site given the hands-on nature of patient care. About 1% of entry level internal medicine physician openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those positions typically involve telemedicine consultations, utilization review, or clinical documentation work rather than direct in-person care.
Are these new grad internal medicine physician jobs?
Yes, these listings include new grad, recent graduate, and junior internal medicine physician roles. A posting is generally new-grad friendly when it welcomes candidates with zero to two years of post-residency experience, accepts internship or fellowship training in lieu of independent practice history, and offers mentorship or supervision during the early months on the job.
Which industries hire the most entry level internal medicine physicians?
Entry Level internal medicine physician roles concentrate in Healthcare & Medical Services, Education, and Non-Profit & Social Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. These sectors drive hiring at this level because they operate high patient volumes and rely on a steady pipeline of newly trained physicians to fill growing demand for primary and hospital-based care.
