IT Support Jobs in Utah: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become an it support in Utah?
Most Utah employers expect at least a CompTIA A+ certification and a two- or four-year degree in information technology or a related field, though neither is state-licensed. The practical path starts with an associate degree from institutions like Salt Lake Community College or Utah Valley University, followed by an entry-level help desk role. Building skills in cloud platforms, Active Directory, and ticketing systems makes candidates competitive for mid-level positions at Utah's major tech and healthcare employers.
Which companies hire it supports in Utah?
Employers hiring it supports in Utah right now include Courser, Collabera, and Moog, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Utah's concentration of fintech, healthcare, and software companies means large internal IT departments are common, and hiring tends to be consistent across multiple seniority levels throughout the year.
Which Utah cities have the most it support jobs?
Salt Lake City, Lehi, and Ivins account for the largest share of it support openings in Utah. Salt Lake City dominates because of its density of corporate headquarters, financial institutions, and hospital networks, while Provo and Orem benefit from the technology corridor anchored by companies that have established regional operations along the Wasatch Front.
Are there remote it support jobs in Utah?
Yes, but they're less common than in purely desk-based fields because much of it support work requires on-site hardware troubleshooting and hands-on device management. About 29% of it support openings tied to Utah are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, and those positions tend to focus on cloud administration, software support, and tier-two helpdesk roles that can be handled without physical access to equipment.
How can I get hired as an it support in Utah with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry point is a help desk or desktop support role, which large Utah employers in healthcare and finance regularly fill with candidates who hold a CompTIA A+ and have completed a two-year program at Salt Lake Community College, Utah Valley University, or Dixie Technical College. Intermountain Health and several Salt Lake City-area financial services firms run structured IT apprenticeship or rotational programs aimed at early-career candidates. Moving into it support from adjacent roles like office coordinator or AV technician is also a common path when paired with a vendor certification.
Where can I find and apply to it support jobs in Utah?
You can find and apply to it support jobs in Utah on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers actively hiring in the state. Search the listings to find roles that match your experience level and location, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
