This program plays a critical role in shaping DaVita’s leadership bench and delivering high-impact talent across the organization.
Role Summary
The Redwoods Program Lead is a strategic operator responsible for overseeing DaVita’s Redwoods Leadership Development campus recruiting and summer internship program. As a Program Lead on the team, this role provides an opportunity for individuals looking to expand their impact through broader ownership and executive visibility. We are looking for an ambitious leader who is passionate about talent development and eager to incorporate innovative tech solutions into our workflows.

- Prepare and deliver executive readouts on recruiting progress, cohort quality, and overall program health to senior leadership.
- Provide learning and development coaching to managers and interviewers on how to effectively assess and manage early-career talent.
- Manage the overarching candidate journey, ensuring a highly transparent, efficient process from the first screen through Super Day to reduce mid-cycle drop-offs.
-
Analyze recruiting data to identify process improvements, and overhaul stakeholder and candidate surveys to be shorter, timelier, and actionable.
-
AI, Technology, Data & Continuous Improvement
-
Evaluate, implement, and manage AI-driven recruiting tools and automation to streamline interview scheduling, candidate tracking, and real-time post-interview feedback collection.
- Transition the team away from highly manual administrative work by building interconnected systems across Recruiting, HR, and IT.
- Define what "winning" looks like by setting goals, tracking metrics, and driving towards targets.
- Lead process optimization initiatives across the recruiting lifecycle, standardizing workflows and creating scalable playbooks to improve overall team efficiency.

Frame your recruiter experience for J-1 eligibility
Trainee and Specialist categories require documented field-specific experience, not just general business exposure. Compile performance reviews, sourcing metrics, and hiring pipeline records that prove your background in sales talent acquisition specifically.
Identify host employers with structured training plans
J-1 visa hosts must submit a Form DS-7002 training plan detailing your objectives, supervision, and evaluation schedule. Target mid-size to enterprise sales organizations with HR or talent acquisition teams large enough to administer this documentation without disrupting daily operations.
Search for J-1-aligned roles on Migrate Mate
Filter by employers who have hosted J-1 exchange visitors in similar roles. Migrate Mate surfaces these opportunities so you're not cold-applying to companies unfamiliar with the DS-2019 issuance process or host-employer obligations.
Clarify the two-year home residency requirement early
Some Trainee and Specialist participants are subject to INA Section 212(e), requiring two years in your home country after the program ends. Confirm your country's status and any waiver eligibility before signing a training agreement, since this affects post-program work authorization options.
Confirm your designated sponsor's category authorization
Not every State Department-designated sponsor is authorized to issue DS-2019 forms for the Trainee or Specialist category. Before your host employer engages a sponsor, verify that organization holds current authorization for the specific category covering sales recruiting roles.
Prepare your DS-7002 to reflect sales recruiting workflows
Generic training plans get flagged during sponsor review. Structure your DS-7002 phases around specific sales recruiting tasks: candidate sourcing, applicant tracking system management, interview coordination, and offer negotiation support, each with measurable learning objectives and defined supervision.
Senior Sales Recruiter J-1 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Which J-1 program category fits a Senior Sales Recruiter role?
The Trainee category applies if you have a degree plus at least one year of relevant experience, or five years of experience without a degree. The Specialist category suits professionals with expertise in a narrow occupational field. Senior Sales Recruiter candidates with substantial talent acquisition backgrounds typically qualify under Trainee, though some senior specialists may qualify under Specialist depending on the designated sponsor's assessment.
Who actually sponsors the J-1 visa for a sales recruiter position?
The J-1 visa sponsor is a U.S. Department of State-designated organization, not the hiring company. Organizations such as Cultural Vistas or AIPT issue the DS-2019 form and monitor program compliance. The company where you recruit is the host employer. Conflating the two is a common mistake that delays program approval when a candidate assumes their employer handles sponsorship directly.
How do I find U.S. employers open to hosting a J-1 sales recruiter?
Many U.S. employers are unfamiliar with the host-employer obligations attached to J-1 Trainee programs, so cold outreach to random companies is often ineffective. Migrate Mate lets you search for roles and employers that have already demonstrated openness to J-1 exchange visitors, reducing the friction of explaining the program structure from scratch during your job search.
Does the two-year home residency requirement affect sales recruiter J-1 participants?
It can. INA Section 212(e) requires certain J-1 participants to return to their home country for two years before applying for H-1B visa, L-1 visa, or immigrant visas. Whether it applies depends on your home country, program funding source, and skills on the U.S. Exchange Visitor Skills List. Confirm your status with your designated sponsor before finalizing any training agreement.
What does the Form DS-7002 training plan need to include for a recruiting role?
The DS-7002 must detail phase-by-phase learning objectives, supervision arrangements, and performance evaluation methods specific to your role. For a Senior Sales Recruiter, this means documenting activities like talent pipeline development, applicant tracking system use, behavioral interviewing techniques, and offer management, not generic business administration tasks. A vague plan is the most common reason designated sponsors request revisions before issuing the DS-2019.
