Lab Associate Jobs in Utah: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a lab associate in Utah?
Most lab associate roles in Utah require at minimum an associate degree in a laboratory science, medical laboratory technology, or a closely related field. While Utah does not issue a separate state lab associate license, many clinical employers require or strongly prefer ASCP Board of Certification. Completing an accredited clinical laboratory technician or technologist program at Utah Valley University or Salt Lake Community College is the most common path into the field.
Which companies hire lab associates in Utah?
Companies currently hiring lab associates in Utah include University of Utah, Sotera Health, and Brigham Young University, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Utah's concentration of hospital networks and reference laboratories means consistent lab associate openings across both clinical and research settings throughout the state.
Which Utah cities have the most lab associate jobs?
The Utah cities with the most lab associate openings are Salt Lake City, Ogden, and Provo. Salt Lake City dominates the market because of its density of hospital systems, reference labs, and university research institutions, while Provo and Ogden draw openings from regional medical centers and the manufacturing quality control sector anchored along the Wasatch Front.
Are there remote lab associate jobs in Utah?
Yes, but they're rare. Lab associate work is largely hands-on and requires physical presence for specimen handling, instrument operation, and quality checks. About 0% of lab associate openings tied to Utah are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those tend to be administrative, data review, or lab informatics roles rather than bench positions.
How can I get hired as a lab associate in Utah with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for a lab assistant or specimen processor role at a large Utah reference laboratory or hospital, then cross-training into an associate position. ARUP Laboratories and Intermountain Health both run structured training programs for candidates without prior lab experience. Completing a phlebotomy certificate at a Utah community college and earning a student ASCP credential before graduating gives candidates a clear edge over other applicants at the entry level.
Where can I find and apply to lab associate jobs in Utah?
You can find and apply to lab associate jobs in Utah on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers hiring across the state. Search the listings, find the roles that match your experience and location, and apply directly to the ones that fit.
