Boston University invites applications for a faculty position at the rank of Lecturer in Biology.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Department of Biology at Boston University invites applications for a full-time Lecturer beginning September 1, 2026. This is a teaching track line with possibility of renewal and promotion based on performance. We seek a colleague with a commitment to undergraduate education and a track record of excellence in teaching. The instructor in this position will teach 4 courses per academic year. Courses may include Introductory Biology, Cell Biology, DNA Dynamics, Carcinogenesis, Genetics (general and intensive), and Human Infectious Disease (general microbiology with a focus on infectious disease). Specific courses will be determined according to the selected candidate’s expertise.
The successful candidate will have a PhD in biology or a related field and experience with evidence-based teaching practices. The position will involve active engagement in the academic life of the Department of Biology, such as serving on department or University committees, serving as an academic mentor to a cohort of undergraduate biology majors, developing curricular materials, serving as a research mentor for undergraduates participating in a Senior Thesis, Master’s or PhD committees, and contributing to the development of academic initiatives.

COMPENSATION
The anticipated starting salary is $72,000 for the 9-month appointment; additional summer teaching opportunities may be available.
