Job Overview
The Assistant Shop Technician is responsible for assisting the Shop Manager with the inspection, maintenance, repair, and upkeep of company vehicles, equipment, and trailers. This position helps ensure all equipment is safe, reliable, and ready for daily operations while maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient shop.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Shop Manager with repairing vehicles, equipment, and trailers.
- Change oil, filters, belts, hoses, brakes, tires, batteries, lights, and other routine service items.
- Respond to service calls at job sites or other locations as needed.
Assist in reparing and maintaining the following
- CDL trucks
- Pickup trucks
- Thermoplastic trucks and kettles
- Striping trucks and paint systems
- Air compressors
- Hydraulic systems
- Arrow boards and message boards
- Portable traffic signals
- Trailers
- Guardrail equipment
- Hydraulic pounders
- Generators
- Skid steers and other construction equipment
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Mechanical experience with diesel, gasoline, hydraulic, or heavy equipment is required.
- Experience working on construction equipment, trailers, or commercial vehicles is a plus.
- Basic knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.
- Welding and fabrication experience is preferred but not required.
- Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and shop machinery.
- Valid driver's license required; CDL is a plus.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and maintain a drug-free workplace.
Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
