Maintenance Technician Jobs in Florida: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a maintenance technician in Florida?
Most maintenance technician roles in Florida require a high school diploma or GED plus hands-on trade experience, though no single statewide license covers all technicians. Roles involving HVAC and refrigerants require EPA 608 certification. Electrically focused positions may require a Florida Electrical Contractor license issued through the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation. Many candidates build credentials through vocational programs at Florida community colleges or apprenticeships registered with the Florida Department of Education.
Which companies hire maintenance technicians in Florida?
Employers hiring maintenance technicians in Florida right now include School District of Palm Beach County, Florida, Pool Centurion, and Tires Plus, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of November 2026. Florida's concentration of large resort complexes, multifamily housing communities, and healthcare campuses means hiring is consistent year-round across the state.
Which Florida cities have the most maintenance technician jobs?
Tampa, Orlando, and Jacksonville have the most maintenance technician openings in Florida. The distribution reflects the state's densest commercial and residential activity, with Orlando driven by its resort and entertainment industry, Miami by large multifamily and commercial real estate, and Tampa by a growing mix of manufacturing, healthcare, and property management employers.
Are there remote maintenance technician jobs in Florida?
Yes, but they're rare. Maintenance technician work is inherently on-site, requiring direct access to equipment, facilities, and systems. About 0% of maintenance technician openings tied to Florida are remote or hybrid as of November 2026, and those roles are typically limited to maintenance coordination, scheduling, or facilities management desk functions rather than hands-on technical work.
How can I get hired as a maintenance technician in Florida with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for a maintenance assistant or groundskeeper role at a Florida multifamily property management company or resort operator, where on-the-job training is common. Large property management firms and hospitality groups in Orlando and South Florida regularly bring on helpers who cross-train into full technician roles. Earning an EPA 608 certification before applying gives candidates a clear edge, as does completing a trades program at a Florida community college such as Miami Dade or Valencia College.
Where can I find and apply to maintenance technician jobs in Florida?
