Senior Manufacturing Engineer

Job Description Summary

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will work with Dauch forging plants globally on new product launches, capital equipment purchases, process developments and OEE improvement. This individual will have the opportunity to analyze all aspects of a forging process (metal flow simulation, forged part design, sequence of operations, equipment selection, tool design and material handling).

Job Description:

• Identifies issues and potential improvements to processes, equipment and tooling
• Follows engineering systems, process control and change management policies
• Works closely with plant manufacturing engineers, operators, tool rooms, suppliers, quality and maintenance departments to improve OEE and product quality
• Runs forging simulations using Deform software, analyzes and interprets results to predict more robust sequences and tool designs
• Completes detailed tool designs for hot, warm, cold forging processes
• Develops manufacturing equipment purchase proposals by studying manufacturing operations, preparing detailed requirements documentation, evaluating suppliers and quotations
• Supports and completes manufacturing cost projections by analyzing forging design, complexity, and overall manufacturing process along with investment, return, and savings
• Maintains process integrity by developing and updating policies, procedures, methods, and guidelines
• Contributes to engineering and success of the organization by welcoming related, different, and new requests; being open minded and helping others accomplish job results.
• All other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Education

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering / engineering technology or equivalent experience
• Ability to work in a manufacturing plant environment, as well as corporate office setting
• Minimum of 4 years of direct manufacturing / engineering experience preferably in a forge manufacturing operation
• Strong CAD modeling and drafting skills, preferably NX
• Able to read, interpret and create mechanical drawings
• Understanding of GD&T and other dimensioning and tolerancing conventions
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• An ability to interact and build relationships effectively across all levels in an organization
• Self-starter who takes initiative
• Willing to travel up to 25%-50%, including international
