INTRODUCTION
A process engineer will implement, develop, and optimize production methodologies in the manufacturing operations of TE Connectivity. This engineer will be responsible for optimizing product flow through the factory using process optimization techniques that may include tool/fixture selection, line layouts, ergonomic studies, material presentation, and other relevant factors. The successful candidate will interface with operations, design, and quality engineering to solve problems, improve manufacturability, and implement continual improvement. The engineer will sustain products with cost reduction and yield improvements working with quality to compile and evaluate data to determine appropriate limits and variables for process or material specifications.
This role will play a key part in supporting the growth of a recently launched product line as it transitions from manual manufacturing processes to higher-volume production methods. The successful candidate will lead process optimization, capacity expansion, automation initiatives, and manufacturing readiness activities to support increasing customer demand while maintaining safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead cross-functional initiatives to improve manufacturing performance, drive production scale-up and capacity expansion, and support automation implementation. Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers, technicians, and operations personnel while influencing manufacturing strategy and best practices.
- Develop expertise in manufacturing processes. Understand process capabilities through critical data analysis and in-depth understanding of the product. Develop and modify line layouts, including material flow, waste reduction, and ergonomics, utilizing Lean Manufacturing best practices. Lead and support the transition of products from development and pilot production into full-scale manufacturing.
- Analyze and optimize production processes to improve safety, maximize Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), reduce cost, and achieve world-class quality performance. Champion continuous improvement projects (CIP) to maximize yield, capacity, and capability.
- Diagnose manufacturing issues and drive corrective actions to root cause, resulting in permanent corrective and preventive actions. Utilize structured problem-solving techniques such as DMAIC, Ishikawa, Five Why (5W) and Eight Disciplines (8D).
- Analyze data from various sources to identify trends in build quality and efficiency. Develop robust and clear data collection, visualization, and analysis tools. Enable data-driven operational and financial decisions through predictive insights into tool and process performance, including integration of factory data systems and use of software such as MySQL, Python, R, JMP, Minitab, Tableau, Ignition or similar platforms to support data-driven decision making.
- Perform supporting activities for engineering and manufacturing including 5S and Lean manufacturing activities, material handling improvements, production line configuration, and safety procedures.
- Monitor and reduce process variation using techniques such as Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA). Monitor and audit manufacturing processes to ensure product specifications and standards are achieved. Participate in the development and maintenance of FMEAs and Control Plans. Analyze, develop, process, and implement Engineering Change Orders.
- Create and maintain Manufacturing Instructions, routings, and associated processes. Develop and train sustaining technicians, assist in the training of operators as needed. Manage activities for process sustaining technicians to support day-to-day coverage of production line, including developing and documenting appropriate rework procedures.
- Support 24 by 7 production operations.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- BS degree in engineering, mathematics, physical science, or other applicable degree (advanced degree preferred).
- Minimum 5 years of manufacturing engineering experience, preferably in high-volume manufacturing, automation, electronics, medical device, or other regulated industries.
- Lean/Six Sigma Green or Black belt preferred.
- Experience with developing manufacturing processes for new products.
- Experience with maintaining/improving test stands designed to custom manufacturing processes.
- Experience developing, sustaining, and improving Process. Have a demonstrated track record of Overall Equipment Effectiveness improvement activities.
- Good understanding of Bill of Materials, Manufacturing Execution System, Specification Management, Change Point Management.
- Data collection and analysis experience with ability to develop data-driven root cause analyses and implement effective corrective actions.
- Experience specifying, commissioning, validating, or supporting automated manufacturing equipment.
- Experience leading capital equipment projects including requirements definition, vendor selection, FAT/SAT, installation, and production ramp.
- Experience supporting manufacturing scale-up, line balancing, and capacity planning activities.
- Strong problem-solving skills and an aptitude for learning systems quickly. Able to utilize structured problem-solving techniques such as DMAIC, Ishikawa, Five Why (5W) or Eight Disciplines (8D). Able to translate complex manufacturing performance issues into actionable improvement plans.
- Knowledge of Statistical Process Control and its application.
- Demonstrated ability to influence operations, quality, supply chain, maintenance, and product engineering teams to achieve business objectives.

COMPENSATION
- Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $128,100 - $143,000 (subject to change dependent on physical location).
- Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
- Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits.
