This Opportunity
WSP’s Construction Materials Team is growing, and we have opportunity for an Intermediate Construction Materials Engineer to support our Charlotte, NC or Asheville, NC location. Your Impact
- Perform testing and special inspections related to soils, reinforced concrete, and masonry on general building sites and facilities
- Interpret and monitor work procedures as per project plans and specifications for compliance with projects requirements
- Interact with client representative (supervisors, foremen, project managers, engineers, etc.) at project sites
- Prepare and submit written field reports summarizing daily activities/observations in a timely manner
- Support project management tasks such as scheduling, reports review, budget tracking, invoicing, proposal writing and business development
- Collaborating tasks and supporting cross functional teams
- Work in accordance with Company safety policies
- Perform analysis or calculations to check accuracy, applicability and reasonableness of testing data
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
- 1-3+ years of Construction Materials Testing experience
- Engineer Intern (EI) or Engineer in Training (EIT) certification
- ACI Field Level I certification (concrete sampling and field testing)
- Valid Driver’s License and Good driving History
- Reliability – must be able to arrive at designated project sites prior to scheduled times
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Flexibility to work outside normal business hours as required
- Must pass physical, background check, and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy
Preferred Qualifications:
- Physical examination required to obtain medical clearance to work
- Ability to stoop, kneel and to routinely lift and carry 40 pounds
- Clean driving record and capable of being insured for driving company vehicles
- Able to work in variable outside conditions, including extreme heat or cold
