Overview
Keep public works vehicles and equipment ready for the work ahead as a Mechanic in a union shop. You’ll inspect, diagnose, maintain, and repair a varied fleet, from heavy trucks and diesel equipment to tractors and other industrial machinery. Your impact: Reliable repairs help public works crews complete essential tasks safely and keep equipment available when the community needs it.
Duties
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, brake, suspension, transmission, and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems.
- Perform vehicle maintenance, tire service, alignment, diesel engine repair, and heavy truck and equipment repairs.
- Inspect and maintain Skid steers, Loaders, Kaboata, John Deere, Case. Ford Trucks, Vans, electric carts.
- Use schematics, hand and power tools, and diagnostic methods; complete fabrication, welding, soldering, and assembly as needed.
- Operate heavy equipment when required, safely handle heavy lifting, and provide responsive service to internal customers.
Experience
- Mechanic, service technician, or dealership experience is relevant; experience with heavy equipment mechanics, automotive repair, diesel mechanics, or vehicle systems is valued.
- Bring mechanical knowledge and experience with equipment repair, maintenance, automotive diagnostics, electrical systems, hydraulics, air brakes, shocks and struts, and transmissions.
- Familiarity with vehicle mechanics for truck drivers, industrial equipment, and public works fleets is helpful.
- Ability to use tools safely and perform physical tasks, including heavy lifting, is required.
Pay: $26.14 - $40.00 per hour
