Medical Assistant Jobs in Nevada: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a medical assistant in Nevada?
Nevada does not require a state-issued license to work as a medical assistant, but most employers require or strongly prefer national certification such as the Certified Medical Assistant credential from the American Association of Medical Assistants. Candidates typically complete a medical assisting program at institutions like the College of Southern Nevada or Truckee Meadows Community College. Earning national certification before applying gives candidates a clear advantage in Nevada's competitive outpatient and specialty clinic market.
How much do medical assistants make in Nevada?
Medical assistants in Nevada earn a median of about $45,200 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $37,400 for the lowest 10% to over $55,120 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire medical assistants in Nevada?
Nevada medical assistant roles are posted by Renown Health, Intermountain Health, and PDS Health and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Nevada's concentration of large integrated health systems and rapidly expanding outpatient clinic networks means hiring is consistent across both Las Vegas and Reno metro areas year-round.
Which Nevada cities have the most medical assistant jobs?
Reno, Las Vegas, and Henderson have the most medical assistant openings in Nevada. Las Vegas and Henderson together account for the majority of postings, driven by the dense concentration of multi-specialty clinics, urgent care chains, and large hospital systems serving Clark County's fast-growing population, while Reno's expanding regional health campuses and Northern Nevada Medical Center contribute a steady share of openings in the north.
Are there remote medical assistant jobs in Nevada?
Yes, but they're rare. About 33% of medical assistant openings tied to Nevada are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting the hands-on clinical nature of most positions. The roles most likely to offer remote or hybrid arrangements are those focused on administrative medical assisting tasks, such as prior authorization, patient scheduling, or telehealth support.
How can I get hired as a medical assistant in Nevada with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is completing a certificate program at the College of Southern Nevada or Truckee Meadows Community College and applying to externship-to-hire pipelines that large Nevada clinic groups routinely offer graduates. Dignity Health and Intermountain Health both hire entry-level candidates into float pool or clinic support roles that build toward full medical assistant positions. Candidates transitioning from roles such as medical receptionist, patient care technician, or pharmacy technician are also competitive, especially when paired with a current CMA or CCMA credential.
Where can I find and apply to medical assistant jobs in Nevada?
