Medical Doctor Jobs in Oregon: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a medical doctor in Oregon?
You must hold an active license issued by the Oregon Medical Board, the state agency that oversees physician licensure. The path requires completing medical school, graduating from an accredited residency program, and passing the USMLE or COMLEX licensing exam sequence. Oregon requires applicants to submit verification of training, a background check, and proof of malpractice history before a license is granted. Board certification in your specialty strengthens most Oregon hospital credentialing applications.
Which companies hire medical doctors in Oregon?
Oregon medical doctor roles are posted by GoHealth Urgent Care, ORTC, and Optum and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Oregon's largest hiring volume runs through integrated health systems and federally qualified health centers, which serve both urban and rural communities with physician shortages.
Which Oregon cities have the most medical doctor jobs?
Portland, Salem, and Eugene have the most medical doctor openings in Oregon. Portland accounts for the majority of volume as the home of OHSU, Providence, and Legacy Health, while Eugene and Salem reflect growing regional health system expansions and state agency medical programs that have added physician roles in recent years.
Are there remote medical doctor jobs in Oregon?
Yes, but they're rare. About 21% of medical doctor openings tied to Oregon are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting the fundamentally hands-on nature of clinical medicine. The remote roles that do exist are concentrated in telehealth urgent care, psychiatric evaluations, and utilization review or case management positions that do not require in-person patient contact.
How can I get hired as a medical doctor in Oregon with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying directly to residency-to-employment pipeline programs at Oregon teaching hospitals, particularly OHSU, which recruits graduating residents into attending roles. Legacy Health and PeaceHealth operate new-physician onboarding tracks in primary care and hospitalist medicine. Candidates without independent experience can also target locum tenens assignments through Oregon rural health programs, which build a credentialing record. Holding an active Oregon Medical Board license and board eligibility significantly accelerates credentialing at any of these institutions.
Where can I find and apply to medical doctor jobs in Oregon?
You can find and apply to medical doctor jobs in Oregon on Migrate Mate, which lists current Oregon openings across health systems, clinics, and community health organizations. Search the roles available, identify the ones that match your specialty and location preference, and apply directly to each position through the listing.
