Mental Health Jobs in Long Beach: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a mental health job in Long Beach?
Long Beach hires mental health professionals most actively through its network of Federally Qualified Health Centers, Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health outpatient sites, and established nonprofits serving the city's large unhoused and low-income populations. Bilingual Spanish and Khmer skills give candidates a real edge here, as does experience with co-occurring disorders. Targeting community-based organizations in the West Side and Central Long Beach neighborhoods opens the most entry and mid-level doors.
Which companies hire mental healths in Long Beach?
Long Beach mental health roles are posted by Telecare Corporation, Mental Health America of Los Angeles, and Tarzana Treatment Centers and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. The hiring landscape includes large hospital systems, county-contracted nonprofits, and school-linked wellness programs spread across the city's diverse residential neighborhoods.
Are there remote mental health jobs in Long Beach?
Yes, though with limits: hands-on clinical roles like case management and in-person therapy are almost always on-site, while documentation, care coordination, and telehealth therapy positions are frequently remote or hybrid. About 0% of mental health openings tied to Long Beach are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, skewing toward administrative and telehealth-licensed roles. Telehealth therapy is the segment with the most fully remote flexibility in the Long Beach market.
How can I get a mental health job in Long Beach with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Long Beach is through community health worker or mental health rehabilitation specialist roles at county-contracted nonprofits, which regularly hire candidates without graduate degrees. Organizations serving Long Beach's unhoused population and its large Southeast Asian and Latino communities often prioritize cultural fluency and lived experience alongside formal credentials. Volunteering or interning with a Long Beach-based crisis line or school-based wellness program builds local references that carry real weight with hiring managers here.
