National Account Director Jobs in North Carolina: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a national account director in North Carolina?
The path to a national account director role in North Carolina typically starts with a bachelor's degree in business, sales, or marketing, followed by several years of account management or sales experience in a relevant industry. North Carolina does not require a state-issued license for this role. Employers in Charlotte's financial corridor and the Research Triangle's tech and pharma sectors favor candidates who have progressed through account executive or regional sales manager roles before moving into director-level responsibilities.
How much do national account directors make in North Carolina?
National account directors in North Carolina earn a median of about $62,620 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $37,410 for the lowest 10% to over $145,630 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire national account directors in North Carolina?
Employers hiring national account directors in North Carolina right now include Bandwidth, Olly Olly, and Electrolux, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. North Carolina's mix of Fortune 500 headquarters in Charlotte, major pharmaceutical and biotech firms in the Research Triangle, and large logistics and manufacturing operations statewide means demand is spread across multiple industries rather than concentrated in a single sector.
Which North Carolina cities have the most national account director jobs?
Charlotte, North Carolina, and Raleigh account for the majority of national account director openings in North Carolina. Charlotte's concentration of banking, insurance, and energy companies drives the highest volume, while Raleigh and Durham attract openings tied to the Research Triangle's technology and life sciences employers, and Greensboro's logistics and manufacturing base supports steady demand from distribution-focused organizations.
Are there remote national account director jobs in North Carolina?
Yes, and more than many senior roles, since national account directors spend much of their time managing relationships and strategy rather than working on-site at a single location. About 33% of national account director openings tied to North Carolina are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting how the role travels to clients rather than being anchored to one office. Strategy, reporting, and client communication work are most commonly performed remotely.
How can I get hired as a national account director in North Carolina with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into a national account director role from a strong regional sales manager or senior account executive position, which many North Carolina employers treat as a direct pipeline. Large employers in Charlotte's financial services sector and the Research Triangle's pharmaceutical companies often promote internally from their account management teams. Building experience with enterprise CRM tools, taking on named accounts in a current role, and completing industry certifications in sales leadership can give a candidate a meaningful edge when applying.
Where can I find and apply to national account director jobs in North Carolina?
You can find and apply to national account director jobs in North Carolina on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings tied to North Carolina employers and locations. Search the listings, find the roles that fit your background and preferences, and apply directly to the ones that match.
