Most employers prefer a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field, though some promote from inside sales or territory representative roles. Building experience with major retail or distributor accounts, learning CRM tools, and developing strong presentation skills are the most reliable steps toward landing a national account role in the state.
How much do national account saleses make in North Carolina?
National account saleses in North Carolina earn a median of about $150,470 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $69,350 for the lowest 10% to over $297,760 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.

Charlotte, North Carolina, and Raleigh lead North Carolina for national account sales openings. Charlotte dominates due to its density of corporate headquarters in retail, financial services, and consumer goods, while Raleigh benefits from its Research Triangle technology and life sciences employers, and Greensboro draws openings from logistics, apparel, and distribution companies that use it as a mid-state operational hub.

About 33% of national account sales openings tied to North Carolina are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting the desk-based and relationship-management nature of the work.
