Entry Level Neonatologist Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level neonatologist job?
Completing a neonatology fellowship after your pediatrics residency is the standard path into entry level roles. Employers at this stage look for hands-on NICU experience from your training, strong letters of recommendation from attending physicians, and board eligibility or certification. Candidates who can demonstrate procedural competency in areas like intubation, umbilical line placement, and ventilator management tend to stand out during the hiring process.
Which companies hire entry level neonatologists?
Companies hiring entry level neonatologists right now include Pediatrix Medical, Jobot, and University of Kentucky, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. At this level, hiring tends to come from hospital systems, children's hospitals, and academic medical centers that operate Level III or Level IV NICUs and regularly onboard newly fellowship-trained physicians.
Are there remote entry level neonatologist jobs?
Yes, though most neonatologist roles are inherently hands-on and clinic-based. About 0% of entry level neonatologist openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those tend to be telemedicine consultations or administrative positions rather than full bedside clinical roles. Candidates open to hybrid arrangements may find more flexibility in academic or multi-site health system positions.
Are these new grad neonatologist jobs?
Yes, these listings include new grad, recent graduate, and junior neonatologist roles. A posting is generally new-grad friendly when it welcomes candidates who have just completed their neonatal-perinatal medicine fellowship, accepts zero to two years of attending experience, and considers fellowship rotations or supervised NICU work in place of independent practice history. Look for language like "new graduates encouraged" or "fellowship completion required" rather than years of attending experience.
Which industries hire the most entry level neonatologists?
Entry Level neonatologist roles concentrate in Healthcare & Medical Services, Education, and Staffing & Recruiting, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. These sectors drive hiring at the entry level because they operate high-acuity NICUs, support fellowship training programs, and have the patient volume to justify bringing on newly graduated neonatologists as attending physicians.
