General Summary
Plans and coordinates learning activities in the Nursing Learning Resource Center. Monitors the use of, and maintains, any skills learning lab, health assessment and simulation lab equipment, materials, and supplies. Collects and analyzes data relevant to skills and health assessment labs.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Plans and coordinates learning activities in the Nursing Learning Resource Center including, but not limited to:
- Coordinating specific teaching experiences with the appropriate faculty and planning the utilization of human and material resources
- Assists with securing grants related to skills acquisition, laboratory supplies, inter-professional education and simulation research.
- Provides direct instruction, practice, remediation and testing of specific nursing skills to students in the skills lab.
- Sets up and assists faculty in skills lab instructions.
- Assists with implementing and facilitating remediation, test taking skills, and content mastery for students as necessary.
- Works with faculty with skills-required courses to provide optimal learning in a simulated and supportive environment.
- Identifies and recommends to School of Nursing leadership the appropriate computer-based and other instructional equipment/resources.
- Monitors the use of, and maintains, any skills learning lab and health assessment lab equipment, materials, and supplies for all programs both on and off campus.
- Insures the proper functioning of equipment and arranges for repair or replacement as needed.
- Responsible for inventory and ordering of supplies and budget related to supplies, services and materials (SS&M).
- Works with faculty to assure state-of-the-art training equipment and supplies are on hand for all students.
- Under the guidance of departmental leadership, work with external partnership organizations to develop and maintain our mini-Sim lab.
- Directs and schedules the work of graduate assistant and other student employees.
- Performs related duties, as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Nursing required. Master's degree in Nursing is preferred.
A minimum of two years' experience in inpatient nursing practice is required.
Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Current (or eligible) unrestricted RN license in the State of Michigan is required.
Experience in providing Nursing education is preferred. Skill in inventory control and materials management is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience coordinating the operations of a clinical nursing learning laboratory is preferred.
