Occupational Therapist Jobs in Brooklyn: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a occupational therapist job in Brooklyn?
Brooklyn's occupational therapist market is strongest in pediatrics, geriatric rehabilitation, and school-based services, so targeting those sectors gives you a clear edge. Hospital systems in Sunset Park and Bay Ridge, early intervention programs serving Flatbush and Brownsville, and independent pediatric clinics throughout Park Slope and Crown Heights hire consistently. Candidates with hands-on fieldwork completed in New York City settings and bilingual skills, particularly Spanish or Haitian Creole, stand out in Brooklyn's diverse patient population.
Which companies hire occupational therapists in Brooklyn?
Employers hiring occupational therapists in Brooklyn right now include Sigma Health Rehab, Frontline Personnel, and EIS LAASOIS, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Brooklyn's employer mix is broad, covering large academic medical centers, borough-based school districts, skilled nursing facilities, and community health organizations serving high-need neighborhoods throughout the borough.
Are there remote occupational therapist jobs in Brooklyn?
Yes, though remote work is limited for occupational therapists because most roles require direct, hands-on patient care. About 0% of occupational therapist openings tied to Brooklyn are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting a small share of the overall market. The roles most likely to offer remote or telehealth components in Brooklyn are home health supervision, early intervention evaluation coordination, and documentation-heavy case management positions.
How can I get a occupational therapist job in Brooklyn with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Brooklyn is through early intervention programs and school-based contracts, which regularly hire new graduates and offer structured supervision. Brooklyn's large network of community health centers, pediatric therapy clinics in neighborhoods like Flatbush and Bushwick, and borough-wide school district contracts frequently post positions open to candidates completing their first year of licensure. Completing fieldwork rotations at Brooklyn-based facilities and building familiarity with the city's early intervention referral system gives entry-level candidates a concrete local advantage.
Which industries hire the most occupational therapists in Brooklyn?
The sectors hiring the most occupational therapists in Brooklyn are Healthcare & Medical Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Brooklyn's dense residential population, high proportion of older adults in neighborhoods like Bensonhurst and Canarsie, and large public school system combine to sustain consistent hiring demand across those sectors year-round.
