THE ROLE
We are seeking a strategic and execution-oriented Lifecycle Marketing Manager to join our team with a dedicated focus on Adoption and Retention. In this high-impact IC role, you will be responsible for the end-to-end execution of multi-channel strategies designed to move users from initial conversion to long-term advocacy. You will own key programs including seasonal campaigns, event-based marketing, and critical adoption and expansion initiatives.
The ideal candidate is a proactive self-starter who thrives in a collaborative environment and has a proven track record of using Email, In-Product Messaging (IPM), SMS, and Push notifications to drive measurable behavioral change.
Responsibilities
- Master the Journey: Map and manage the end-to-end buyer journey specifically for paid users, identifying key milestones for feature adoption, expansion, and long-term retention.
- Omnichannel Optimization: Build and maintain sophisticated automated flows across Email, IPM, SMS, and Push to support ongoing product initiatives and new feature launches.
- Streamline Communications: Conduct ongoing audits of automated flows to consolidate messaging and reduce "communication noise," ensuring every touchpoint provides clear, high-signal value.
- Newsletter Strategy: Own the end-to-end execution of the monthly customer newsletter, transforming it into a high-engagement vehicle for product education and community updates.
- Event & Campaign Lead: Partner with Integrated Marketing to provide full lifecycle support for major events, webinars, and seasonal campaigns, managing the funnel from promotion to post-event nurture.
- Strategic Alignment: Translate high-level marketing goals into tactical lifecycle plans that drive measurable event attendance, product stickiness, and consistent brand voice for all paid-user comms.
- Test & Learn: Maintain a rigorous A/B testing roadmap for messaging, cadence, and channel mix (Email vs. IPM) to constantly improve funnel efficiency and reduce churn.
- Performance & QA: Track the health of the paid user base to influence expansion plays and churn mitigation, while maintaining technical excellence and "zero-fail" campaign execution.
DESIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Experience: 4–6+ years in Lifecycle, CRM, or Growth Marketing, with a deep focus on post-purchase/retention journeys in a SaaS or subscription environment.
- Technical Proficiency: Advanced hands-on experience with marketing automation platforms (e.g., Iterable, Braze) and in-product messaging tools (e.g., Appcues, Pendo).
- Journey Mapping: A sophisticated understanding of the customer lifecycle and the ability to visualize and execute complex branching logic in automated flows.
- Multi-Channel Proficiency: Proven ability to orchestrate complex campaigns across Email, SMS, Push, and In-App channels.
- Analytical Expertise: Strong knowledge of performance metrics and experience using data tools (e.g. Tableau, Mixpanel, or Looker) to inform strategy.
- Strategic & Tactical Balance: You can architect a lifecycle roadmap but are also comfortable diving into the tools to build workflows and troubleshoot technical triggers.
- Collaborative Spirit: Exceptional project management skills with a proven ability to support cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
- AI Acuity: Familiarity with modern AI tools to enhance campaign speed-to-market and personalization is a plus.

How to Get Visa Sponsorship as a Lifecycle Marketing Manager
Target companies with established CRM infrastructure
Employers running Braze, Klaviyo, or Salesforce Marketing Cloud are already investing in lifecycle programs. These teams hire regularly and are more likely to understand OPT authorization, making sponsorship conversations smoother once you've proven value.
Lead with measurable retention outcomes
Lifecycle roles are evaluated on open rates, conversion lifts, and churn reduction. Quantify your results from internships or academic projects. Concrete numbers shift the conversation from visa paperwork to ROI, which is what hiring managers care about most.
Prioritize mid-size tech and e-commerce companies
Startups often lack HR infrastructure for sponsorship. Enterprise firms move slowly. Mid-size companies in growth mode typically have the budget, urgency, and flexibility to sponsor OPT students who demonstrate immediate impact in retention and engagement programs.
Frame your segmentation and automation skills clearly
Lifecycle roles require audience segmentation, A/B testing, and workflow automation. If you've built drip sequences or behavioral triggers, say so explicitly on your resume. These are the exact skills employers screen for before worrying about visa status.
Raise OPT status after demonstrating interest, not before
Wait until a recruiter signals genuine interest before disclosing your OPT status. Once they're engaged with your skills and background, visa conversations are far easier. Disclosing too early gives employers a reason to screen you out before reviewing your work.

Can F-1 OPT students work as Lifecycle Marketing Managers?
Yes. Lifecycle Marketing Manager roles typically qualify as specialty occupations because they require a bachelor's degree or higher in marketing, communications, business, or a related field. That makes them fully eligible for F-1 OPT work authorization. STEM OPT extension eligibility depends on whether your specific degree program appears on the DHS STEM designated degree list.
Is a Lifecycle Marketing Manager role STEM OPT eligible?
It depends on your degree, not the job title. If you graduated from a program classified under CIP codes like Management Information Systems, Marketing Research, or Applied Statistics, you may qualify for the 24-month STEM OPT extension. A pure Marketing or Communications degree typically does not qualify. Check your degree's CIP code on the DHS STEM list and confirm with your DSO before applying.
How do I find Lifecycle Marketing Manager jobs that sponsor OPT?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for F-1 OPT students and filters roles by sponsorship willingness, so you're not wasting applications on employers who won't hire international students. Searching there saves significant time compared to filtering general job boards manually. Focus on companies in e-commerce, SaaS, and consumer subscription, where lifecycle programs are a core business function and sponsorship is common.
What should I do if my OPT expires before I secure a Lifecycle Marketing Manager role?
If your OPT EAD expires without a new authorization in place, you must stop working immediately. If you're eligible for a STEM OPT extension, file the I-765 with USCIS at least 90 days before your current EAD expires. You have a 60-day grace period after OPT ends to prepare for departure or transition to another status, but you cannot work during that window.
Which industries hire Lifecycle Marketing Managers who are on OPT?
E-commerce, SaaS, fintech, and direct-to-consumer brands are the most active hirers for lifecycle roles. These companies depend on email and retention programs as primary revenue drivers, so they hire regularly and often have experience working with OPT students. Health tech and edtech companies are also growing in this area as they scale subscriber and patient engagement programs.
