This role supports platform configuration, operational controls, and technical governance implementation across regions and environments globally. This is an exciting opportunity to shape and operate foundational platforms at enterprise scale, guiding federated teams worldwide and ensuring MetLife’s citizen developer ecosystem grows securely, consistently, and sustainably.

- Partner with the Lead Platform Architect to translate architectural standards into enforceable platform configurations, controls, and governance mechanisms.
- Evaluate, design, and implement platform configurations that balance security, scalability, usability, and regional requirements while maintaining a consistent global posture.
- Guide and enable federated and regional platform engineering teams through expert advisory support, documented patterns, runbooks, PoCs, and onboarding of new capabilities and regions.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience, with 3+ years of relevant professional experience, including 2+ years implementing Power Platform and other citizen-developer platforms.
- 1+ years of hands-on experience in administering Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Copilot Studio), including environments, policies, connectors, licensing, and administrative controls within a global enterprise environment.
- Strong understanding of platform configuration and administration, including the impact of settings and policies on security, compliance, scalability, and user experience.
- Experience leading technical proofs-of-concept to evaluate platform capabilities, configuration tradeoffs, and operational implications.
- Excellent technical communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose configuration or policy-driven issues and guide platform engineers and administrators across regions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proven ability to translate architectural guardrails and standards into enforceable platform configurations, controls, and operational practices.
- Experience implementing and operating Microsoft Power Platform and other citizen-developer platforms in an enterprise environment, including multi-region or federated models.
- Hands-on experience with additional citizen-developer or AI platforms (e.g., Claude CoWork) and familiarity with related technologies such as cloud platforms, databases, and security.
Location Expectation: This is a hybrid role requiring a minimum of 3 days per week in office.
The expected salary range for this position is $100,000 - $130,000. This role may also be eligible for annual short-term incentive compensation and stock-based long-term incentives. All incentives and benefits are subject to the applicable plan terms.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding OPT Sponsorship in Microsoft Power Platform
Frame your OPT timeline upfront
Tell recruiters your OPT start date, expiration, and whether you qualify for the 24-month STEM extension. Power Platform roles typically meet STEM criteria, so clarifying this early removes the biggest objection employers have.
Certify before you apply
Microsoft's PL-100, PL-200, and PL-400 certifications signal verified competency to employers. Candidates with Power Platform credentials stand out in applicant pools and reduce perceived risk for companies considering OPT sponsorship for the first time.
Target mid-size companies with existing OPT history
Mid-size consulting and technology firms often sponsor OPT more consistently than large enterprises. Companies already running Power Platform practices are familiar with the process and more willing to sponsor qualified candidates who reduce their implementation backlog.
Highlight cross-functional business impact
Power Platform spans IT and business operations. Emphasize projects where you automated workflows, reduced manual processes, or built apps used across departments. This framing appeals to non-technical hiring managers who control sponsorship decisions.
Get comfortable with the Power Automate and Dataverse stack
Employers want depth beyond basic canvas apps. Demonstrating proficiency in Power Automate flows, Dataverse modeling, and Power BI integration shows you can own an implementation end-to-end, which strengthens the business case for sponsorship.
Ask about H-1B sponsorship early in the process
Raise the H-1B question before the final interview round, not after an offer. This saves time for both sides and lets you focus on employers who already have immigration counsel and a clear process for transitioning OPT workers.
Microsoft Power Platform OPT: Frequently Asked Questions
Do Microsoft Power Platform jobs qualify for the STEM OPT extension?
Most do. Power Platform roles are typically classified under CIP codes for computer science, information systems, or management information systems. If your degree falls under one of those STEM-designated programs, you're likely eligible for the 24-month STEM OPT extension on top of your initial 12 months, giving you up to 36 months total. Confirm your degree's CIP code with your DSO before applying.
How commonly do employers sponsor H-1B visas for Power Platform roles?
Sponsorship is reasonably common for Power Platform specialists, particularly at consulting firms, financial services companies, and large enterprises running Microsoft-centric environments. Demand for certified Power Platform developers has grown steadily as organizations automate internal processes. Companies already invested in the Microsoft ecosystem tend to be more willing to sponsor because replacing a Power Platform specialist mid-project is disruptive and expensive.
Where can I find Power Platform jobs that are open to OPT candidates?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for F-1 OPT and international students and filters for employers open to sponsorship. Searching on general job boards wastes time because most listings don't indicate sponsorship willingness. On Migrate Mate, you can browse Microsoft Power Platform roles where the employer context is already vetted for OPT candidates.
What job titles should I search for if I want Power Platform work on OPT?
Common titles include Power Platform Developer, Power Apps Developer, Business Applications Developer, Low-Code Developer, and Dynamics 365 Developer. Consulting roles like Microsoft Solution Architect or Power Platform Consultant also appear frequently. Some postings use broader titles like Digital Transformation Analyst or Business Systems Analyst but specify Power Platform skills in the requirements, so searching by skill alongside title yields better results.
Can I work on Power Platform projects as a contractor on OPT?
Yes, but with an important constraint. OPT requires that you work for a single employer who is listed in SEVIS. Contract roles through a staffing agency are permitted if the agency is your employer of record and files the necessary SEVIS reporting. Independent contracting or self-employment is not allowed on OPT. If a Power Platform role is offered through a staffing agency, confirm they're prepared to handle OPT employment documentation before accepting.
