Tips for Your Oracle Developer Job Search
Tailor your resume to Oracle stack depth
Hiring managers scan for specific Oracle technologies, not just 'database experience.' Call out your PL/SQL proficiency, Oracle version experience, and whether you've worked with Oracle EBS, Fusion, or standalone database environments. Vague tool lists get filtered out first.
Separate DBA skills from developer skills
Oracle developer and Oracle DBA roles overlap but aren't the same. If you've done both, label each clearly on your resume. Recruiters searching for a developer who can write stored procedures will miss you if your experience reads like a pure infrastructure background.
Apply early to roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists oracle developer openings from across the United States in one place, so you can find roles that match and apply directly to each listing.
Prioritize openings that name your Oracle module
Descriptions that list Oracle EBS R12, Oracle Fusion, or Oracle APEX are signaling the exact environment you'd work in. Applying to listings that match your module experience gives you a concrete answer to 'have you used this system before?' from the first screen call.
Prepare a PL/SQL coding walkthrough
Most oracle developer technical rounds include a live or take-home PL/SQL exercise. Practice explaining your logic out loud as you write, not just producing working code. Interviewers want to follow your reasoning, especially around exception handling and performance tuning decisions.
Negotiate around certification and training
If the offer is below your target, ask about Oracle certification reimbursement or paid training time before countering on base pay. Many employers value certified Oracle professionals highly and will add this benefit when direct compensation is constrained.
Oracle Developer Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies are hiring the most oracle developers?
The companies hiring the most oracle developers right now include Oracle, AMBA SYSTEMS, and Collabera, with the largest share of openings in Texas, California, and Washington, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Federal agencies and large healthcare systems consistently account for a significant share of demand alongside enterprise software firms.
How many oracle developer jobs are remote?
About 14% of oracle developer openings are fully remote or hybrid as of June 2026, with remote availability varying by specialization. PL/SQL and Oracle APEX development roles tend to be more remote-friendly than positions tied to on-premises Oracle EBS implementations, which often require some on-site presence for system access and deployment coordination.
How do you become an oracle developer?
Start by building strong SQL fundamentals, then move into PL/SQL through self-directed projects or coursework focused on Oracle Database. Hands-on practice with Oracle's free Developer tools and Oracle APEX builds practical skills employers recognize. Earning an Oracle Database certification validates your knowledge and helps you stand out when applying to roles that require a demonstrated Oracle-specific background.
Can you get hired as an oracle developer with little experience?
Yes, entry-level oracle developer roles exist, but they typically expect at least a foundation in PL/SQL and basic Oracle Database concepts. Building a small portfolio of scripts, stored procedures, or an Oracle APEX project gives hiring managers something concrete to evaluate. Government contractors and mid-size enterprises are more likely than large tech firms to hire developers who are strong in SQL and willing to learn Oracle-specific tooling on the job.
What does the oracle developer interview process look like?
Most oracle developer interviews include a recruiter screen focused on your Oracle environment experience, followed by a technical round with a PL/SQL or SQL coding exercise. Later stages often involve a system design or architecture discussion, especially for senior roles involving Oracle EBS or Fusion. Some employers add a take-home assignment testing query optimization or stored procedure logic before making an offer.
Where can I find and apply to oracle developer jobs?
You can find and apply to oracle developer jobs on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from across the United States. Search the listings to find roles that match your Oracle specialization and experience level, then apply directly to each one that fits.
