Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Pediatric ICU position requiring 2+ years of high acuity PICU experience in a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center.

Details

• 12-hour day shift position, 0700-1900, 36 hours per week
• Pediatric Intensive Care Unit with 24 beds and 21-23 patient average census
• Patient population includes respiratory, trauma (including NAT), DKA, seizures, neurosurgical, renal failure, orthopedic, surgical, transplant (kidney, liver), complex medical, and blood disorder cases
• RN patient ratios vary by acuity: 2:1, 1:1, or 1:2
• EPIC EMR used
• Weekend rotation every other weekend
• No on-call requirements
• Holiday coverage as needed
• Floating required to Pediatric CVICU, NICU, Neonatal PCU, or General Peds units
• Schedule cycle runs every 6 weeks

Requirements

• Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
• BLS and PALS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of strong, high acuity Pediatric ICU experience required
• Most recent experience must be within the last year
• Comfortable working in a high acuity, fast-paced environment
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Experience with Artic Sun, EVDs, Camino device, and Belmont Rapid Infuser required
• Skilled in critical care vasoactive drip titration and invasive line management (ART lines/CVP)
• Proficient in aseptic/sterile technique, ventilator and trach management, and HFOV management
• Experience with chest tubes, epidurals, PCAs, sedation/analgesic drips, and Foley management required
• CRRT experience required
• Alaris and Medfusion pump management experience required
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
• At least one professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

• Located in a 247-bed Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center, teaching hospital, Chest Pain Center, and Certified Stroke Center
• Unit support includes CNA/health care tech, unit secretary, 24/7 charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, resource nurse, respiratory therapy, intensivist, residents, and APPs
• Centralized and bedside patient monitoring utilized; no dedicated telemetry tech
• Orientation includes facility-wide NEO and 2 days of departmental orientation
• RTO subject to manager approval
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Candidates must live more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
• Former employees must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year after a permanent position before returning
